Not really. They JUST approved it. Fall ball JUST ended. That would piss a lot of players and coaches off, among other reasons why they can't impliment it this year.

Given that the change was enacted largely on the back of the overwhelming vote by the coaches in favor of it, I would be shocked to find out that they would be "pissed off" about it.

Yeah, they could if they wanted. But they don't. NCAA hates LSU.

After they've gone through the entire offseason and Fall Practice with a different ball, yes it would piss them off.

They voted for it for 2015 fwiw

The link I found says the ball won't be implemendted until the 2015 Championship

The Division I Baseball Committee will move to the use of a flat-seamed baseball for its championship, starting with the 2015 Division I tournament.

During the season, each team has an option. More than likely, the SEC baseball will be the flat seam and any ball used at home by LSU

No way that can be true. Because even more rediculous than changing after fall ball would be changing mid season

Pretty sure that means that the NCAA Tourney will be when it is first officially mandated by the NCAA. As Ell said, it will be compulsory during the season and most, if not all, will probably go to the new ball.

Either I'm misunderstanding what you are saying, or you meant to say that using the ball during the season will be optional for individual teams.

It will be optional during OOC games (home team's preference). The SEC supplies the ball once conference starts.

damn, I wanted to see Bregman hitting that ball.

You will in 2015. I don't think he's a draft eligible sophomore.

Where is the research. Is there a significant distance in ball speeds and distances off the bat?

So the SEC's choice will be compulsory as it always will be, but every other team and conference will have the option. Got it. Thanks for clarifying.

It was found to significantly reduce drag in the conditions used in the NCAA/Rawlings test. Google it to check out the specifics.

No problem. Sorry for the confusion.

Good news but why wait 2 years to start using them? Makes no sense.
