Recall some young punk umpire pulled this rule out of his handbook cost us the game Pitcher has only 20 seconds to pitch the ball. If he fails to do so, the batter is awarded first.
lol no they didn't because that isn't a rule.

wait -- they went to the time, effort, and money to build an entire park dedicated to baseball and only baseball, and they still have a yellow stripe?
Someone explain the stripe to me. Apparently I've missed something in all my years. Do all parks not have a stripe? Why would a baseball only stadium not have a stripe but a combo stadium have one?

This almost happened in the LSU game last weekend. If the pitcher balks, but the pitcher is already in the process of throwing the ball to the plate, the ball is not dead. If the ball is hit into fair play (or wild pitch), the offense has the option of taking the result of the play, or the balk.
This happened to me in jr high. Our pitcher balked but went through and lobbed the ball to the plate, the hitter hit a double off the wall

This one is completely a judgement call by the ump, and it only applies if he's on the rubber

Ruined a great extra inning game with that call.

Ball goes over the yellow stripe it is a homerun. If it doesn't, it isn't.

My best friend is an up and coming MLB Umpire. He does AAA games right now in the IL. He told me a long time ago, what is the defintion of being safe at 1st? The simple answer is beating the ball to the base...plain and simple. If you do not beat the ball "or tie" then the runner is out. Clear and simple. So many times since then, i have been at games and witnessed people yell that the tie goes to the runner. I always laugh and think back to that day. If you really think about it, the rule is really simple to understand.

No where in any rule book does it state that a batter is awarded first base. There is a pitch clock rule, however, if it is violated a ball is called. So if a batter was awarded fist base it was a completely 100% incorrect call.

I was not aware that a walk with bases loaded will give the batter credit for an RBI.
really?

Well the umpire was an idiot.
1. The pitch clock rule is no longer in effect when there are runners on base. A pitcher could take all day if they choose.
2. A violation of the pitcher clock rule is most definitely not a balk.

But why would Turner Field have one, where other parks do not.
Like in St Louis:
Or Miami:
Fenway:
Wrigley:
But there's a stripe in Tampa:

Nice to know he was wrong cause I recall seeing him out at a bar one nite still arguing his call.
My biggest problem with this punk upmpire was even if it were a rule like that why pull a rule out of you arse that directly affected the outcoming of a game.

Actually there is one in Wrigley
Look at the basket. The one there actually makes sense because it could go over the line, in the basket, and come out on the field of play. It makes it easier to see what happens if there is a yellow line to look at.
In other parks, it makes little to no sense. The ball has to clear it to be a homerun. Typically, if the ball clears the yellow line, its going in the stands. I guess it can be used in situations where fan interference is possible or whatever, but the ball has to fully clear it to be a homerun.

D'oh! Missed the line on the basket. I was just doing a GIS and looking at the top of the walls.

If a fielder throws his glove at a ball over his head and catches both before they hit the ground it should be an out. And it would definitely be on ESPN'S Top 10 plays of the day.

Infielder does this, it's a triple
Outfielder does it, and it's a home run

No one claims that's a rule. It's more of a saying.
If it's a tie. The tore didn't beat the runner. If it didn't beat the runner.. He's safe. That's all it means.
