At Dragos in the Hilton...that guy is super cool...introduced me to his gf and his guests...gave him a bro hug for what he did as a Saint. No pics thats all.
I hope your wife wasn't there.

I once sat next to joe in a crowded movie theater circa 2002. Our conversation word for word:
Joe: "Did we take your seats."
Me: 'No, you're good"
Joe: "Cool. You a Saints fan?"
Me: "Yea."
Joe: "What do you think of Benson?"
Me: I just shrug my shoulders not knowing how to respond.
Joe: "I hate that fat frick!"
Me: just sit in silence not knowing how to respond.
That ended our conversation until midway through the movie he asked if I wanted anything from the concession. I said no and we went our separate ways.
Don't know what to do with it so I just thought I'd share.

Could have responded a lil better. He probably thought you were a stuck up arse. Thanks, for sharing the story.

his BBQ sauce is really legit. I have had the pleasure of talking to him a few times, and he is always more than accommodating.

Uh, I didn't say anything about where he went. But now that you mention it, I do remember him saying something about "I'll just go ask Arthur Blank for a job" or something to that affect. Basically "screw the Saints, I'll go to Atlanta and show them". Didn't really work out for him
He acted like a whiny little bitch on his way out the door b/c he got replaced as the #1 WR.
I won't go into details, but he caught a ton of shite for speaking out against the organization during Katrina. He made some enemies because he was so pro NOLA. He did not want to leave, I will just put it that way...

He also said people in NOLA didn't care about them before Katrina and he wasn't so sure about the team coming back.

1. bullshite
2. You're disingenuous when you're saying that one day and you're NOLA's biggest cheerleader the next.

Plenty of people in NOLA, right now, don't give two shits about the Saints, even with their current success. I'm sure that number was higher when they were a doormat.

That's the nature of sports in general.

sdomewhere i got a p[olaroid of hollywood signing some old mans saints helmet at a training camp. joe talked with this old dude for at least 15 minutes and seemed genujinely interested in the conversation. they were talking about their experiences working in fried chicken places. theres dsome evidence that he was as a assholle as a football player but as a person he seems like a really good guy. i also seem to remember him doing the most during katrina? maybe?
Me and some friends ran into Hollywood Joe in the movie theatre one time back in the day. He was there with then rookie Donte Stallworth and a third guy we didn't recognize. All of them were really cool and talked to us for a few minutes. Despite his brief defection to the falcons, Joe is still one of my favorite saints players.

Met him at a signing event for his BBQ sauce (which is terrible, btw), and he seemed pretty cool. There were over 100 ppl there, but he'd talk to you individually for as long as you wanted. Took the time to learn my nephew's names, ages, favorite football players, and position that they play.
Then he signed our BBQ sauce bottle which unsurprisingly didn't help the taste.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; Joe Horn was money when it came to the way he treated my kids at training camp. The guy was awesome, kept everyone entertained, and was the first to sign, and the last to leave. He will always be one of my favorite Saints.

I hear that dude's hands are quite gnarly these days. Apparently had a busted finger or two catching all those passes.

Both he and Fieldcow were ushered out because of their outspoken stance on the team potentially leaving.

I remember all of this. He was all about the Sainst and NOLA and blah blah. Then he wasn't "the man" anymore and got pissy. Just the preception I got from the interviews he gave after he left. "New Orleans isn't big enough for Joe Horn and Sean Payton"
He was also all "Free Mike Vick" when he got to ATL, like they had played together for years.
I couldn't care less about the dude one way or the other to be honest. My opinion is based on the encounter I had with him in addition to the way he acted or was portrayed when he left. He may be the greatest guy in the world. Wasn't the impression he left on me, though

Fielkow was. Payton got rid of Joe because he was a highly paid mouthy aging small receiver they could easily replace.
