It is very simple: Alleva offered Chief a 3-year deal which is what Chief wants. Problem is that it is not guaranteed $$$ past 2 years unless Les is still HC. Alleva will change that, I predict next week, and Chief will re-up for 3 more years.

That's interesting because I just talked to my friend who is a defensive starter as well and he said that he thinks chief may be gone

The frick does that have any correlation to the situation?

We have some stupid fricking fans at lsu.

If Miles loses his whole defensive staff in the midst of the highscholl all-american games to basically your new rivalry weekend opponent he is a fricking moron. End of story.

I don't believe this will happen, but this sounds just so absurd and I think Miles has a better control of his staff than is insinuated in this thread.

Why did they sign the deals if they knew they were leaving a few days later?

Who said they know? There's a decent chance even Chavis doesn't know, this "done deal" stuff is only in reference to what has presumably been agreed to in principle. Things fall apart at the last minute all the time. LSU could offer his $1.8 million a year tomorrow after the game he stays.

Signing the extensions is only logical, it's simple job security. If Chavis leaves and they go with him, they lose nothing. If he stays, then they already have their new deals.

Unless you are under the illusion that these coaches are somehow more loyal to LSU than to themselves, there is no reason to think them signing the deals today guarantees anything.

Well Aleva would also deserve to be fired too on Thursday.

It's kind of enough to have the resident aTm troll in this thread, but to confound it with your horrible posts just makes this thread a whole lot more hilarious and sad.

Kind of like a clown.

It's not all for Miles to control. The AD and board have to approve coaches contracts and salaries.

It's not like Miles has carte blanche to hire and pay whoever the hell he wants.

I am not freaking out, but this is the most absurd coaching runor I have heard in awhile.

I will acknowledge I never thought Harbaugh, an elite NFL coach, would leave for Michigan though.

Stop trying to cover your BS story.

If these assistants signed extensions than there is no way they leave with Chavis even if that was a possibility. Maybe they could do it but it would make 0 sense.

Im not covering anything, I'm just clarifying what I thought would be self-evident to everyone in my original post in this thread.

I'm not guaranteeing anything, but your inability to fathom a coach leaving LSU for A&M is clouding basic logic here. The coaches signing those deals is a no-brainer regardless of circumstance. You really think they would just say "Nah, we'll wait until Chavis decides whether or not to leave before signing those deals"? If there is nothing binding them to LSU in the deals (and there rarely is in position coaching contracts) what do they have to lose?

I have no idea what will happen but Peveto was here with Miles prior to Chavis and if I'm not mistaken Raymond was also a GA here with Miles prior to joining the staff in 2012, not to mention he played here.

That's not exactly an illusion.

You just called for the most successful coach in school history to be immediately fired if one of his assistants leaves.

That is a ridiculous freak out.

o. He is under contract already thru the 2015 season so no rush to get anything signed. The reported problem was the contract Alleva presented Chief with was null and void with no buyout by LSU if LM left during the 3 year term of the proposed contract. Chief would have been nuts to sign it. The language will be changed and the new contract signed. Haley would not have signed his new contract if Chavis was leaving.

From 247 board... And have heard this more than once. Chief wants more job security keeping him at LSU in case Miles leaves / fired.

Not to anyone who acknowledges loyalty doesn't run very deep in coaching anymore.
