Yep, I average getting harassed more than once a day. That is one of the biggest gripes I have with Houston, along with the horrid streets inside the loop.
Any city that provides benefits for homeless people will have a lot of homeless people. They are everywhere.

Having lived here for 16 years, i agree about the homeless people and shitty nightlife.
And its now more expensive than New York, so that really sucks.
Having said that, it still rates pretty high in other areas...food, weather, music, shite to do, economy as compared to places like Houston or Dallas.

What area of SF do you live in?

I was kinda shocked at all the people who chose Miami. I didn't think people actually thought it was good city.
Austin is overrated, but only because peopel hype it up so much. It's a badass town in pretty beautiful area but the people kinda suck. I will say that 6th St. is very overrated. Give me Rainey over 6th any day. If you didn't have to enter Texas to get there, Austin would be a lot better.
New Orleans sucks unless you know your way around the city. Out-of-towners pretty much just stick to Bourbon/French Quarter area and that part of the city is a shithole. They oversell their culture too.

I'm going there in July for the first time in a long time. But it will be extra dumpish once it is flooded with wooks.

I know you didn't ask me, but I live in the Mission, near the Armory. I've been here around 3.5 years, and it's amazing how much things have changed. In the past few weeks I've noticed a big drop in the number of homeless I see cruising Valencia. However there's still the problem with the Latino gangs and their shootings. The Mission is really the only area I see homeless these days, except for maybe the Embarcadero/Financial District area. You certainly don't find them in Marina or Pac Heights.

No its not. Unless you live in the large slum areas, Chicago is pretty great. Chicago is big enough to where it still has more good sections than most other cities. It has a good vibe, amazing suburbs with character, and some really good infrastructure.
frick Chicago winters, though.

no i asked you. OK- I have a lot of friends in that area, but I just am over it. I guess it is because I am 43, and everyone I see there is mid-30s and still in extended adolescence. I have a hard time enjoying myself in SF. I know that area well and it's a WHOLE lot different than 4 years ago, yes. much different that 20 years ago too though. I am not anti- gentrification. the way I see it is all of civilization is pretty much gentrification.

I see a ton of homeless in FiDi and Oakland- OAkland bc of the weather and politics no doubt.

New Orleans hands down, I just don't get it. The most well known parts of the city smell and look like shite

It's an amazing city in the summer, hell, I loved going there on fall weekends too.

Yeah it is pretty shocking to witness the Peter Pan Syndrome out here. I hang out with a ton of guys in their 30s-40s who act as if they're still in college. If you want to grow up you have to move out of the city, but it's impossible to buy a house unless you just cashed out from a tech IPO or you have generous parents willing to give you $250k to make a down payment on a house.

I vote Dallas. The suburban sprawl is enormous and there is nothing remarkable about the downtown, IMO.

Yeah but I don't think anyone really talks up Dallas. It's about what everyone expects.
