What was LSU record in the three year span?
Posted on 3/3/15 at 5:20 am to jumpup123
AT TAM his defense won't have to carry the team like it did at LSU. With a prolific offense to work a long with, his defense wont be under as much 'unnecessary strain'. Stats will suffer, but he is not talking about stats. 15 pages arguing that?

Should read at A&M with a prolific offense to work a long with, and a culture focused solely on offense, his defense won't be much of a unnecessary strain for the SEC. Stats will suffer, but he isn't talking about stats, he is talking about Aggies pocketbooks. 15 pages arguing that?

"The issues is that his D will see similar number of snaps on the field do to the amount of time that gets run off the clock when the O goes three incompletions and 11 seconds run off the clock."
I know after last year watching LSUs passing game that its easy to assume that a QB can't complete passes, but a&m's passing offense is just a tad more coherent than LSUs.
I keep seeing this, as if aTm doesn't have talent. I am not sure where all these LSU posters are getting this impression that aTm doesn't have any talent.
LINK
While there is no denying that LSU had an embarrassment of riches in terms of talent, its not as if Chavis has gone off to Western Connecticut State. aTm is in the top 10 over a 4 year average, and they have only been trending up ever since Sumlin's arrival.

And how many of those top-recruits are on defense?

Tired of always playing with their back against the wall because of an inept offense. I'm sure he was tired of it and calling on the defensive team to save the day. I'm surprised there wasn't a ton of turmoil amongst the team due to it.

were you trying to infer that Sumlin, being an offensive mind, would only recruit highly ranked offensive players, and then sort of cobble together some scrubs on defense? I mean, I know he hasn't beaten LSU, but give the man some credit.

Gene P..... To argue that A&M has talent on defense is laughable..... They lack any talent at lb and db with the exception of armani watts.... On the Dl, they are pudding with a lean pass rusher and an incoming freshman expected to start....
Chavis needs 3 recruiting classes to even come close to running his mustang

I appreciate what Chavis did for LSU while he was the DC.But the way he has handled this situation the past few months, such as the phone call with Sumlin the day of the bowl game, the pictures and stories of him actively recruiting for A&M while he was still employed by LSU and now this dumbass law suit, I am glad he's gone. All I can say now about him is frick HIM!

You should take a look at the recruits they have signed lately on defense. Chavis will have plenty of talent to work with on defense over there. Also if it was a culture focused solely on offense they wouldn't have gone out there way to get Chavis on their staff. Makes no sense to think that just because you want to have a good offense that you don't want a good defense. Look at Bama or Ohio St. They both manage to have both.

Seems more like the AD giving Sumlin ample cause to be fired if he can't put together a complete team with a proven DC.
You think people bitch about Miles and his 4.3 mil?

The score of the game doesnt hinder the defenses' ability to get 3 and outs .
Also, our offense's tempo is a huge reason Chavis' defenses to be ranked high in total defense.

Bamas D actually got worse when Kiffen arrived and got away from the run game.

Boxcar.....I live here....I've watched every game they played last year. There 2013 class of recruits has dismantled.......the only talented players on Defense currently are made up of 2 men: Watts & Myles......everything else they displayed has been hot garbage.
You can't tell me Synder was So bad he couldn't field a D that ranked under triple digits in team stats.......that's fricking crap.
They went after Chavis so Sumlin could have a scape goat. He now resides in the perfect situation. Score points but if defense sucks again he can blame a man with stripes on the wall and save face.
Their core defensive unit missed on every possible recruit they needed this year sans Mack.......they missed out on 3 huge CBs, 1 safety, hell they had to steal a LB committed to ULL.
I don't care what the recruiting rankings say: what I've seen them field is pudding.

I doubt it. As I said earlier, I think it's more likely that the AD is more or less letting Sumlin hang himself by hiring Chavis. If he can't win with a proven DC, he's not going to win.

I agree ! When you can't get a 1st down in the 2nd half then yes, it does put a strain on the Defense !
