I was literally so afraid of heights/bridges, that I made it into my 30's successfully avoiding driving over one. I still don't like it, and there are some that I won't take on now. Don't even ask me to drive in the mountains.

Dude, I was in guatemala in a van full of people at night with the driver hauling arse around shitty mountain roads, no lighting, no guardrails, no markings, only dim van headlights. Lots of brake slamming and accelerating. I thought for sure we were gonna be rolling hundreds of feet to our death

Do the Golden Gate Bridge--just once. Spend some time looking at the bridge before you go over—think about all the people who have jumped to their deaths from the South Tower. Sure is a long, lonely way to the bottom.
Have someone else drive and fasten your seat belt tight. Feel the terror, welcome the terror, embrace the terror.
It's actually pretty cool.
