Is there an antidote for stupidity?

It's the day Obama's countrymen changed this country forever.

In 3rd grade. Teachers cell phone rang, she answered, and dropped it on the floor. Then ran to the front office. I'll never forget. God bless America.

Seriously?
Yes it means something.

It was a tragic day. Everyone was on edge for a while after it. But it was cool seeing everyone come together. Everyone really bonded through sports after 9/11.
Osama's goal was to lure the US into the Bear Trap (Afghanistan) and bankrupt the country. I'd say he did a pretty good job.

I say this every year .. there as at one time a poster here whose dad was in the towers that fell that day. I remember him saying he was maybe 15 or 16 at the time and that they kind of just "pretended" he never came home from work as in he was off on a vacation somewhere. Still think about that kid ... searched a variety of combinations of words to find that post but never had any success.
I'm an emotional person to begin with ... I lost no one on that day. I know no one that died on that day. BUT I do know people that died in war that has gone on since and it sucks.

not really. it happened 14 years ago. it really is time to move on. We get it. It was a shitty day but I think it is time to move on

I'm not expecting it be any different work day tomorrow than any other day. Unfortunately. No one does anything special for December 7, either. Ever in my lifetime.
Really not sure what should be done. I'm sure most of the news media will replay some of it's coverage of that day, but otherwise, I doubt much else nationally will be mentioned about it. FoxNews will make some negative comments about how Obama hasn't done anything to prevent any more attacks and CNN will point out that no attacks like this have occurred with Obama.

Without delving into politics and religion, let the day remind you to cherish your loved ones and live for the day because you never know. 9/10/01 there was meaningless game between the Broncos and Giants that people were excited for just like tonight, a regular day. You just never know. Remind those you love how much you love them and don't forget.
This is nice. I think you are jumping the gun on whether or not the anniversary will receive its due remembrance tomorrow.

Walt lost cousins on 9/11. Always a tough day for him

It fades with time unfortunately.
My instant cynical response:
What does 9/11 have to do with being offended, or Kim Kardashian, or being gay, or social justice, or any of the other inane things that dominate our society these days???

I still remember it and observe it
Every year on 9/11 I go back to where I was. I was in class at parkview baptist. So every year I wake up and go get a few boxes of donuts and go up to the school and sit in the classroom I was in when the planes hit. The same teacher I had then is still teaching so she doesn't mind if I do that. It's a day I'll never forget and unless I'm physically unable to move I'll keep doing my tradition.

I was a freshman at LSU sitting in geography 1001. Decided to drop out of college and enlist in the Army. Spent 12 years active duty and wouldn't have changed my decision for a minute. 3 deployments later and in the Reserves now I'm finally in my way to a degree in EE. I will never forget that moment when the professor asked if anyone had any loved ones in NY.

I bet there are some kids that have never heard of it.

It'll be like Katrina where the national media doesn't give a damn until the anniversary ends in a 0 or 5
So next year will be 15th Anniversary and it'll be a bunch of hooplah
