You had an idea of how the play was going to go just from hearing Hokie's background reactions.

So true. Can't tell you how many times the Saints would make some awful play that would piss me off, but I'd still have to laugh at hearing "gaww" or "God dangit" from Hokie in the background. That happened a lot when I was a kid.

And on the flipside, his excitement for big plays made them that much more special.

I always felt like he was "our" (the fans) guy in the booth, and he embraced that.

To me, I'll always remember him screaming "intercepted!!" when Tracy Porter picked off Farve in the 2009 NFC Championship game. You knew that every other Saints fan had that same reaction. That great, great season seemed to be crushingly fading away as the Vikings moved into FG range, only to have the completely unexpected happen.

The Super Bowl win was great. Porter's interception of Manning was great. But to me, that NFCCG will always be my favorite. Saints fans went from despair to hope in the blink of an eye and Hokie was there to voice the shock and excitement we all had at that exact moment.

My favorites were his "Git it Reggie"s.
