There are programs out there that would give anything to have what LSU had under Les.
Again it's all about the fit. He can get a job if he wants one.

Because he's still a great coach. Sometimes it's just time to move on

All schools have plenty of tape on Miles screwing up with clock management and crappy play calling.... what they don't realize is he would kill the QB position almost immediately...
And what film did Alleva have on coach O?
LSU just hired a fricking dline coach.

Most programs would be thrilled with what he did at LSU.
Plus there usually are about 10 people rumored for a job and only one that gets it.

quote:Wow. Best record in LSU history and a BCS title, with another appearance in the big game, during his tenure... and you think this is a negative? Remember, his worst full season here was still 8-5.
After his tenure at LSU and his release after a dismal start to 2016 season.
2016, he lost close road games to a team that made the Big 10 championship game, and an SEC team that ended up with a better record (ok, you could say same record) as us. The horror.
I think the better question is, what programs think that Miles would be really motivated to take over now? He's over 60 and has accomplished just about everything he set out to do, and he doesn't seem to have the fire he used to have anymore.
If Les interviewed somewhere and came across as really hungry for one more run at it, he's instantly the top choice.
I don't think the jobs that would enthuse him are open right now; but he'd be a killer hire at somewhere like Nebraska.

Overall Record:114–34 SEC Record: 62–28
Championships
1 National (2007)
2 SEC (2007, 2011)
3 SEC Western Division (2005, 2007, 2011)
Not exactly a bad resume

The LSU fan base and their dislike for Miles is one of the most amazing things. This dude has an argument of being the best head coach in school history but it makes more sense to shite on him because he is not Nick Saban.
If O fails maybe it will make people realize how good Les was for as long as he was. Yes, the last two years were frustrating losing to Arkansas and Ole Miss but damn.

Should he still be considered one of the top rated coaches in collegiate football?
Considering the last 8 weeks of a shite show and the idea of promoting an O Line coach who was washed up and unemployed 2 years ago, I wouldn't mind hearing Alleva say for the 2nd time in 2 weeks "we've had our man all along" and hire Miles back! At least he'd have to get a new OC and we could assure 9-10 wins per season until Alleva and F King were gone!

His resume pretty much outshines them all
It sure outshines O. But then, what coach available didn't have a resume that outshined O?
We fire a successful coach because he isn't successful enough for us to only replace him with a defensive line coach who was out of work two years ago and who no one in college football wanted for their head coach but LSU.
What a clusterfrick process.

Interesting that Les' name is out there a lot, but Orgeron's never was.
Wonder why that could be???

Because not one program in America minds running I-formation 20-30% if it gets wins; However, No school wants to see 95% of the Predictable I-formation garbage he wants to run.

Miles is damaged goods. He's old. He is in the Phil Fulmer zone now. Fulmer wanted to coach but never got the chance. Fulmer was a "pound the rock" kind of guy like MIles.
Programs would prefer "up and comers". My guess is that Miles damaged his own brand with his poor offenses; not winning more when LSU has so many former players on NFL rosters, etc.
He may get a gig but not a major one.
