for example, #1 player in the country Najee Harris, according to 247 doesn't have an lsu offer? committed to bama, probably a USC/Bama race, but why not offer all the top prospects you can?

I sure hope we land Akers, he is most important recruit to this class besides Brennan

that's not how recruiting works. you have limited time and resources. It involves more than just offering a kid a scholly. you have to put time into him and sell him your program and maintain that relationship.

and good luck telling a 5 star recruit like Akers that he's your guy when you're just blindly offering all the 5 stars you can.

Coach O also perfectly demonstrated a recruiting 101 mistake with the Myles Brennan situation. That's all the evidence you need

There is merit to this, but remember last year when Felipe Franks was committed up to this time and then suddenly flipped to Florida. So if suddenly Brennan had flipped their only committed QB is Narcisse who is rehabbing surgically repaired knees. It never hurts to have a backup plan in place.

You do make a valid point about just throwing offers to every 5 star and telling your prime targets they are the apples of your eye.

The Franks deal is true, but you at least put an offer out there to recruit that is remotely interested in coming to LSU.

The offer to Tua was likely connected to their pursuit of Kiffin given the timing of it.

Didn't Frank's initially get pissed when lsu started looking at other QBs while he was committed. He probably would've went to Florida anyway but it just shows how deli ate qb recruiting is. Schools aren't pulling in multiple big star qb recruits in the same class, so you have to find youre guy and stay committed to him. That's just the way it is these days

I understand Os angle with the tua situation and possibility of flipping him and i like being aggressive in recruiting but. The odds of getting tua were extremely low and the odds of Brennan staying committed were very high. Not sure that's a gamble worth taking.

also i guarantee you if Najee Harris was to come out tomorrow and say he's going to USC, watch where Cam Akers would go... bama would have him easy

That's going to change going forward. I think the offer to Tua is proof of that.

If Kiffin comes here, he would be our opening to the west coast kids. That's why saban has Sarkisian on his staff.

The last figures I saw had Bama's recruiting budget over 1 million and LSU's in the mid 300 hundred thousands. LSU has the same amount of coaches but less than half of the support staff.

It would be nice to land a top rated QB that works out. Brandon Harris was highly rated but we didn't have a coach or OC that adapted to his players strengths.

I would put some of that SEC Network money which is 32 million dollars a year into football and basketball recruiting budget increases. You have to travel to get the players.

our players in louisian dont always get as much recognition but prove to be just as good as those 5* nd 4*...for example travis etienne wasnt even on 247 or scout til after his junior year now he's a 4* with 5* talent...lsu would have been offered if they had known of his talent, but louisiana doesnt offer much exposure as the bigger states

No offense to you but Kiffin is not the west coast opening most people think he is. That's Tosh Lupoi. He is Tua's recruiter, not Kiffin and responsible for way more west coast kids than anyone else on staff.
