These are people affecting their own lives, not inflicting violence on others.
Yeah not quite. Their addictions can cause them to seek desperate, and sometimes violent, measures to score another fix.
Trying to rob home health nurses cause they think they may have narcotics in their car. Robbing regular people for money for drugs. Getting violent and assaulting ER staff when they don't get the pain meds they want, etc, etc.
Also....another category affected.....teenagers. More and more coming in with narcotic overdoses cause they got ahold of someone else's pain pills (family, friend, etc).
It's so much a problem now that the American Heart Association has added training to their CPR classes on what to do if you think someone has overdosed.

No one gave a damn when black and brown people were doping. In fact, they just threw them
All in jail
All in jail

And by that you mean funding it with tax dollars.
No. Most people have health insurance. Make it court ordered that they go to rehab.

Because they weren't functioning members of society. A lot of these Opiate junkies are. I'm not saying it's right or it's fair but life isn't fair

You know I've smoked a lot of grass
O'Lord, I've popped a lot of pills
But I mever touched nothin'
That my spirit could kill
You know, I've seen a lot of people walkin' 'round
With tombstones in their eyes
But the pusher don't care
Ah, if you live or if you die
God damn, the pusher
God damn, I say the pusher
I said God damn, God damn the pusher man
You know the dealer, the dealer is a man
With the love grass in his hand
Oh but the pusher is a monster
Good God, he's not a natural man
The dealer for a nickel
Lord, will sell you lots of sweet dreams
Ah, but the pusher ruin your body
Lord, he'll leave your, he'll leave your mind to scream

Because they were addicts?
And because they were black and brown?
The govt even admitted to so. So come again .

I took an Oxy once after having wisdom teeth removed. It was only a half. I remember how good it felt and telling myself that I could see how easily someone could get addicted to this. Never had the urge and went with extra strength Tylenol. I guess it's not in my personality and definitely not in my genes. I have 14 left in my cabinet from about 10 years ago

Everyone knows it's a hard life in a hard world out there for most people, but most people don't jab veins...they stay focused and on the "path" of goodness, consequences be damned.
IMO, people that subject themselves to heroin abuse/addiction are saying, by their actions, that they can't cope with the difficulties of life and are checking out. They are leaving the "path", making room for everyone else that wants to be on it...
Like any other animal, humans are only as strong as the weakest of the pack. If our weakest want to self-medicate and drop out...let them...It's their choice, and I fully support individual accountability and decisions.
I am very familiar with drugs, have used a wide variety of them, but there are dire consequences when you cross the line...by now, we all know where the lines are.
