I think there were several factors that played out in this game.

- We did not play a disciplined football game.

- Mississippi St is a better team than we thought.

- Overall, we are young as hell. These types of games happen to young teams.

- While I am not the type to complain about the refs, the refs did make some obvious bad calls that had an impact on the game. It is a whole different ball game if that first TD wasn't called back. Not saying we would have won, but it would have been a different game.

When LSU losses there will be a lot of overreacting, but everyone needs to settle down and see how this plays out. Sometimes a loss can ultimately have a positive impact on a team down the road. So let's just see what happens from here and just be cool...

I think the problem is LSU was trying to compete at the next tier, not get into battles with the lower tier--and by "battles" I mean losing by four touchdowns to a perennial doormat. Unfortunately, LSU is now contending with the Mississippi schools rather than those from Alabama.

Chicken is right that there is no utility to a melt down at game three in the first year of this contract.
If you are like me, you had strong misgivings about the hire in the first place. I called it "AD malpractice" at the time, but hoped for the best. And there's no use to give up hope based on one game.
BUT, it is not too late to observe that, whatever the supposed merits of this hire, a 12 million buy out is outside the range of reasonableness or competence. we don't have to wait a year to fire Alleva and should do so with dispatch. We may have to hire a new HC in the next year or two...

decision makers don't react like some fans, that is a good thing. I remember after Saban went 6-6 in his first year Alabama fans were so negative on him that they would delete any negative comments on Bama message boards.

You're asking the wrong question.....

What should be asked is what happens to Alleva if LSU only wins 4 games this year? He's hitched LSU to Orgeron, a coach that no other team in the country was interested in, with an utterly ridiculous buyout.

I challenge anyone to name a worse hire, all things considered, by an SEC school in the last two decades. When you can't, you will see where some of the angst is coming from.

I hope Alleva is following Frank Wilson's career closely. He seems to be Creating some buzz and would likely be the one to effectively make a difference on in state recruiting. Granted O fails to right the ship

Regardless, O isn't being fired after this season so please don't waste your time worrying about his buyout. .

1. He deserves a chance to construct a program from a 8-9 wins to a championship contender. That will take 2-3 years. Just look at the lack of O & D linemen and you realize the truth in that.
2. Saturday was a confluence of the worst possible scenarios. Couldn't happen again. Injuries, penalties, bad calls, drops, missed assignments, Mullen & Grantham being on point. Everything worked for MSU and against us.
3. Don't care how good you are if you only have 3 DLinemen, and one is inexperienced, you probably aren't going to win. Eventually they will wear you down and if nothing else pound the rock & beat you.
4. Dropping open passes isn't O's or Canada's fault.
5. Horrible eye discipline (most people on TD don't even understand this) isn't Aranda's fault.
6. Having too few OL's and DL's isn't O's fault. Recruiting coordinator doesn't make the decision on how many of each position to ultimately offer. He can only be held responsible for one recruiting class (current Freshman). Probably should have gotten some JuCos at both positions (his fault).
7. Give O some time. I would have preferred a big name coach too. But we didn't pass on Herman, he JILTED US. Jimbo SAID NO. Alleva chose not to go after Mullen or some other lesser known names. That's on him. Give him some time.

Canada's offense is puzzling. With a suspect O line, we stayed tight all night and tried to run inside. I believe that Matt adapts well to personnel and circumstance (Cam did neither) and O stays out of his business. But I would have thought he would have spread the field (F in slot, 3 wide, wider splits) to get better angles and more chance to run inside if that is what he thought we could do. And why no shotgun quick passes to avoid the rush? I'm sure he had reasons but looks like we stayed with same strategy most of the night. On the other hand, when you drop 3rd down passes that would have continued the drive and go 3 & out, there is no reason to change the strategy. just need to execute the play.

I have defended O and have been willing to give him a chance, but he has to show that he's moving the program forward. We lost a huge number of stars on this team and it showed. That being said, there was no excuse for the level of play exhibited Saturday. No adjustments on either side of the ball. The penalties are historically bad. 30 penalties in 3 games. We have to be leading the NCAA there. I knew our youth and experience would hurt, but these coaches and especially O need to put a better product on the field or O needs to go.

Waaaay too early to jump ship. Let's see how O rallies the players these next two games. I was shocked, just like you, by how crappy we played...I realize the offense is still a work in progress with our new OC, but I was floored how bad Aranda's defense played.

funny how this board sucks off the guy that runs it. Hey, I agree with you.......my post history would indicate that. But the number of upvotes you have made me lol. If anyone else would have posted the exact same thing, they would have been roasted with downvotes.

Hey sheeps/minions, quit brown nosing

I think it is realistic that he gets fired.

While it's doubtful it will happen this year, it does seem like an inevitability.

I think the problem O has is he can't claim he didn't get to shop for the groceries in this specific job. He was a part of the junior class that is playing right now.

Even with 7-5 this year and 7-5 next??? Wow. Dark times.

I'm definitely a half melted ice cube right now.

I melted quicker than a popsicle on the 4th of July Saturday night, but have since come back to reality.

As a true fan, you have to hope for the best. I'll reserve any more negativity until I see how we play on the road against Florida. If we come out looking like we did on Saturday in Gainesville, then the wheels are off and the dumpster fire has now become a nuclear explosion.

Chicken ??

It's true good, even great, even Hall of Fame Coaches lead teams on to the field and experience beat downs.

Saban lost to UAB here and directional U at Bama.

But he had a reasonably solid record at a P5 school prior to LSU and had built a championship program here when he lost at Bama.

He gets the benefit of the doubt. What exactly has O done as a HC to warrant a similar benefit of the doubt?

It's true that if Alleva was blinded enough by the Polish Prince's binder to hire him, it's not likely that he awakens and makes the move this year.

But no one should, I would hope, support the kind of effort given Saturday.

We win the next 2 and crash the Swamp against a very beatable team.

I want is to win those 3 and all the rest to be honest.

But count me as "Show me something" before O gets the benefit of the doubt.

I was over it a few hours after the game. Can't dwell on something I can't control.
