Ohio State, Michigan State, Florida State, and Miss State, but we seem to not like that. Makes little sense to me.

I think for some of those it's because there'd be confusion for which you meant. There are multiples of MSU and OSU, but there is only one LSU.

Also "Louisiana State" is a lot of syllables and characters. The 3 letter LSU has strong brand equity.

Not true though. They cried to ESPN for a long time before they changed. Jerseys all say Louisiana. Endzone says Louisiana and has a hedge display saying UL.

I think thats technically within the guideline because it doesn't say "University of" along with it. A loop hole, if you will.

Just change the school name to University of Lafayette and they can keep "UL" that way. They've changed their name 3 times already so one more wouldn't hurt.

Agreed.

Perhaps they should change the name to ‘Identity Crisis University’ or ‘Multiple Personality Disorder University’.

This has to be the school with the most name changes in NCAA history.

They hate including ‘Lafayette’ so much in the name of their school located there. Are they ashamed?

If they dislike the second L in ULL so much, why not just go back to USL???

Good Lord yall are embarrassing yourselves. Big brothers don't need to talk shite to little red headed step siblings.
i actually agree with this.

Any attention we give them makes them feel important.

It causes them so much more pain to be ignored, so ignore them.

It doesn't make sense that someone from LSU would care what another university calls itself as long as it is not LSU. What is the problem? Other states seem to get along just fine having a university calling itself University of Whatever, and another university calling itself Whatever State. LSU should not have a say in what another university calls itself unless it somehow owns the copyright to the name "University of Louisiana".

The problem is that by using University of Louisiana they are trying to say they are equal to LSU. They want to trick people. They want people to think University of Louisiana is to LSU what The University of Michigan is to Michigan State University or University of Florida and Florida State. They want people to think ULL is as good as LSU when it is not at all.

They want people to think ULL is equal to LSU.

I think thats why they get away with it as much as they do bc most people not in the know assume the L means "Lafayette"

I could care less what they call themselves...as long as they lose in every sport then I don’t have a problem with them at all....

I don't care about the name but anything related to a Cajun should not have a British Redcoat-colored uniform.

I know that McNeese St has been Blue and Gold for a long time, but, these colors are much more appropriate for the Cajun culture because they are the colors of Old France.

Gold and White would also be appropriate.

But RED? That is just ignorant.

It should be a British Redcoat with musket and bayonet overseeing a Cajun woman peasant and her child as they are prodded into the cattle wagon to take them to Exile.

It's a name. That's all it is. Tulane is better than both schools but doesn't have "Louisiana" or "State" in it's name. Yale, Harvard, M.I.T. are more examples of this. A school is judged primarily by the quality of it's curriculum, NOT it's sports programs, or it's name.
