Part of what I do is media buying. If you think Schultz catering solely to the malcontent USL portion of folks who listen to that morning show, or 103.7 in general is not also alienating that VERY LARGE portion of LSU fans who live and own businesses here in Acadiana, you're wrong. This has always been a miscalculation by local media...not understanding that even in Lafayette LSU fans outnumber USL fans by a large number. It's caused me to move on from running ads with multiple media outlets. I'm looking at you, Daily Advertiser who is owned by Gannet who thinks it's smart to pay Glenn Guilbeau to be the LSU beat reporter...
I can't wait for my next phone call with Ben Love when he calls asking to run spots and I remind him of this nonsense...

A) I'm a USL alumnus, so when that school acts like a gaping a-hole, it partly reflects on me...so I care in so far as it does.
B) I've been in Lafayette since 1988 and I live in Youngsville and love it here. This commentary is not about my town.
C) The reason I no longer financially support my alma mater is because of their catering to the irrational portion of the fan base who thinks it wise to measure all things accomplished against Big Brother 50 miles east. It's always been idiotic and it's what leaves Cajun Fans in a state of constant angst.
D) As for 103.7, I deal with them regularly and when they or others behave in this manner they run the risk of alienating listeners and advertisers just as much as they think they are gaining them. There are simply too many avenues in which to advertise to spend money with anyone that goes out of they way to bash such a huge and financially important group as LSU fans in Acadiana.
E) We're now LSU-ULL game +4 days. Why are you even here...?

Yeah...I'm sorry. I gave you the impression I was going to keep talking to you. My apologies. I was just here to explain that local media catering to one fan base while bashing the larger one is a bad move and as someone that actually does this for a living I can say that with 100% confidence.

Wow. Some of the infractions seem pretty minor, but when you keep reading you see that they had an elaborate system in place! They were very serious about being competitive.

Dave Schultz is forced to be pro ULL and anti LSU. Last time he said anything negative about the Cajuns on the radio he was suspended.
Now he acts unbiased in giving his analysis about the LSU/ULL situation. What a joke. I don't want to hear his opinion cause I know what it is gonna be....if not he will be suspended again.

Actually, Shultz was suspended for calling out the AD after the AD crapped on our baseball stadium project last year(lied about money being raised when the money wasn’t there when the project was supposed to start). Most Cajun fans applauded him after it. But the station suspended him for it after the athletic department tattled on him. Ironic, because that AD is no longer here. And Shultz is.

As for playing ULLLLL in football, they never sold their ticket allotment when LSU did play them in T.S. As opposed to La. Tech & McNeese, both of whom sold all their tickets. So much for ULLLLL wanting to play LSU. And as for those violations, it was actually 126 major infractions....H.Freeze at O.Miss had 5 in comparison. That is the most in NCAA history last time I read anything about numbers. There is a good reason their HC at the time, Beryl Shipley, who more than has the number of wins to qualify, has never been voted into the La.Hall of Fame. Unless I missed it.

Yeah I get all of this but Glenn enjoys finding ways to shite on LSU. He could take LSU Championship seasons and find ways to make Tiger fans want to slit their wrists. I just wish he wasn't the LSU beat writer, im fine with the LSU jabs from other teams but when its one of our own its a joke.
