I’m not bashing him I’m just curious.

I posted this another thread, but I think it’s a combination of things.

First, I don’t think he was ever the sure fire first rounder he was billed as. He just doesn’t have a huge body of work, and he got banged up the first year he didn’t have Fournette in front of him.

But the biggest thing, imo, is the attention he got from the LSU brand. First, he was billed all last offseason as the next LF, which, all due respect, he just isn’t. So he already came to the combine with a bit of a disappointing impression.

Then, he is also associated with OBJ as a fellow Tiger. One of the best players in the game, even Odell has given his team headaches and they haven’t given him the contract he would have surely gotten if he wasn’t such a head case. Now, Guice comes in, same wild hair, same funny wardrobe and quirky personality, and diva tendencies, but without the other worldly abilities that Beckham has. Is he worth those headaches if he isn’t the same type of player?

Could he have gone first round, sure. But were there other backs there that have just as much reason to go before him, absolutely.

It isn’t like he fell to the third day of the draft. He went late second when at BEST he was going to maybe go in the last few picks of the first. It’s a big deal to him, but not every team is looking to take RBs early on.

The first RB besides Barkley wasn’t taken until 27. He was a surprise but he went ahead of Michel, Chubb and other guys rated higher than him so obviously Seattle just liked the guy.

Michel, Chubb, Jones, and Johnson were all rated similarly, some higher, and have great potential just like Guice. So it isn’t some conspiracy that teams may have leaned to a similarly rated player that didn’t rub them the wrong way throughout the evaluation process.

When all was said and done, Guice actually ended up in a great situation in DC and will have every opportunity to prove his value on the field for his second contract, which is where the real money is anyway.

The sooner he lets this go and focuses on the benefits of ending up in DC, the better off he will be.

Makes sense to me. I don’t think teams were afraid he was the one guy that could/would call them out and take them down because he “tells it like it is.”
Hopefully he’ll put it behind him and thrive in his element.

I agree with all of that and have mentioned some of it also. It's not like he fell that far.

The fact that the NFL put out a statement disputing his claims regarding the interview process was a little strange though.

I've heard from friends that know him that he's always saying random stuff. He said a few months ago that he was going to be moving to California soon and possibly taking his former dog with him (that he had given up when he decided that a pitt was more his style).

I agree. HE is saying that NFL teams are not used to dealling with morons. half the teams are stacked chock full of morons, but some morons are more equal then others.....

In college, he was a team leader, in the weight room and on the field. He never had any issues that I heard about and seemed to be an exemplary kid.

It is hard for me to understand how he imploded with just weeks before the draft. He morphed into something he never was before? I admittedly don't know the whole story but doubt he is a shithead. It would have shown through before.

I probably know less than you or anyone else so I’m not arguing with you at all but...why did they pick on him? Who did it benefit to let him slide in the draft or to bring his character into question?

It has been said they ask them a bunch of outlandish questions to see how they react in interviews. Whether that is true or not, the damage is done.

It is time to be quiet, learn the playbook, and go play some ball.

Never being yourself would make you a moron. If Darius is OK with his situation, and that’s what he believes. what made teams shy away from him, because of the way he answered questions just being his self instead of acting like a Stanford type, like he said. None of us has the right to judge him. If people ever watched his story people would see the reason he still acts immature is that Like his text counselor the lady that helped take care of Derrius said in one of the videos that he did not start opening up and really acting like a kid until he was in 11th grade. The young man is still a teenager at heart he’ll figure out what it’s like to be an adult. although he’s a little immature he still has a good head on the shoulders and has great work ethic, I think he’ll be just fine
