why were our d lineman getting blown off the ball in the first quarter? Excuses. State was better that day. No excuses

State’s first two drives ended with punts, they first scored in the second quarter.

Give me a break. The LSU D was on the field for 11 plays before State’s first TD drive.

MSU drives:

5 plays 29 yards
6 plays 18 yards

8 plays 65 yards TD
10 plays 60 yards FG
10 plays 54 yards TD

So after 11 plays, they were gassed to the tune of three straight scoring drives starting with an 8 play 65 yard TD drive

The two ejections came in the second half btw.

Then right out of the locker room from HALFTIME:

7 plays 48 yards FG
6 plays 79 yards TD

The D couldn’t get off the field all night. It was a scheme/technique/preparedness/motivational issue.

Miss State's offense did it's damage scoring points in really just 2 quarters. Meaning, the LSU defense gave up 30 points in the 2nd & 3rd quarters while giving up just 7 points in the 1st & 4th Quarters. For comparison, Miss State's defense gave up 7 points the entire game. State's defense wasn't that good but LSU's offense was that bad.

In the 2nd & 3rd quarters LSU's offensive TOP averaged 5 min while Miss State's offense averaged 10 min. We know the defense had trouble getting off the field in these quarters but let's not pretend that the offenses inability to stay on the field didn't impact the entire game.

MSU rushed for almost 300 yds with 2 rushing TD's and passed for almost 200 yds with 2 passing TD's. A somewhat balanced attack from State's offense gave LSU's entire defense problems all night.

Yes.... LSU's DL was extremely limited and lacked a 2 deep rotation due to several starters out.
Yes.... This had some affect on the entire defense and Miss St had success offensively.
.... Claiming it's responsible for the historic 30 point blowout loss is fricking asinine.

This game was poorly coached, poorly played and it was already lost in the off season as LSU was pushed around to start the season.
