Yeah, their Facebook posts are getting smacked with "what's the weather plan" comments now. My wife wants to run it but I'm thinking about saving that $70 because I'm betting it doesn't happen

ive never done the CCC but ive done other races put on by them that have been effected by weather. They'll find any way possible to still get it in.

Like Indulger said, if it's on then I'll be out there in a thunderstorm to improve my odds of getting a poster

Can’t imagine they reschedule.

Highly unlikely.

And they cant shut down the route indefinitely, volunteers, police all that.

I dont mind running in the rain but you freeze to death when you stop.

Same. Was looking forward to bumming around the post race party for a bit…but not if I’ll be cold and wet lol.

At least rain will keep the route cooler while running and as mentioned lower the threshold for a poster. Last year I missed out by 30 seconds.

Is it still top 500 get a poster? last year 500th place was 47:55. I last ran this in 2015 and 500th place was 43:18. what's up with the slow down? I still need to go pick up that poster.

I always thought it was top 500 overall, but I think it’s now top 500 men and top 500 women separately. Still a slow down in overall times I think. As a slower runner, I appreciate them giving me a fighting chance

Bucket list race for me. I’m running in the Boston Marathon on 4/17/23 as a charity runner for the Red Cross. I’m not fast enough to time quality (sub 3:25) so this was my only other option. My PR is 4:09 which was back in 2006 Marine Corps Marathon. I hoping for 4 hours or less. We shall see.

I think last year was a downpour too. There has been a general slow down in times though because in 2016 i think 45 minutes was the cut off.

I expected this year to be fast because Casey is a pretty well known local artist. I'm still going to keep an eye on the weather.

Peachtree Road Race

I’ve run it for the last several years. I run with my son. As he never trains like he should, we always have to walk over half of it. The only plus to that is that free beer is everywhere. If I’m going to walk, might as well have a drink. The best part of the race is people watching.

For a charity runner spot did you have to raise funds or "Write a check"?
what makes this a bucket list race for you?

Top 500 men and women separately is kinda weak. i assume it went that way so women would get same amount of posters but they should have just gone with 250 each if that's the case. years i ran b/w 2009 and 2012 they gave you the numbered poster that you finished but they stopped in maybe 2013.

Welp. I'm on the damn bench 14 weeks into 18 week plan for Eugene. Diagnosed with MTSS (shin splints), possible stress fracture right around the corner if I continue. Was in shape to sniff sub 03:10:00. Absolutely crushing blow, all things considered. This has been the most debilitating injury I've ever had. Tried to train through it (I know, I know), but it kept getting worse and now I can't walk without pain. Every step hurts.

I sought the advice of multiple MD's/PT's/gait analysis, etc. and there was really no other option.

Gonna rock the rehab and maintain fitness as best I can using the bike and elliptical.

Extremely disheartening, but gotta move onward!

Edit: I will say I will never do an 18 week plan again if I have my usual base fitness and around 30-35 mpw going in. 12 weeks max. One lesson learned.

I'd love to run Boston. I turn 50 this year and think I might be able to qualify. Just not sure I'm up for training for a road marathon right now as I'm working through trail ultras.

I'm training for my first marathon and opted for a 12 week plan because I could do 25k trail runs. 18 weeks just felt like asking for an injury, after reading your post I'm glad I made this decision.

I hope you heal quickly and get that sub 3:10 time

Thanks dude and yeah the 12 week mark is around where my injury popped up, so good call. Good luck and thanks again!

I noticed you've been getting some good training in the last few months, man. Nice job!

I ran for the first time last year. No rain, but it was pretty hot. I ran 49 minutes and still managed a poster (barely). I think there were less attendants due to the post covid slowdown? I’ll take it though…I don’t foresee myself getting down to 43:00 or whatever is usually required

The only way I’m getting a poster is if a good runner dies and Wills me one.

CCC Facebook just posted an update reiterating that it's a rain or shine event. I guess we'll see if they're bluffing on Saturday morning

this is one of my major goals with getting back into it. Plan on running my first full in December in Little Rock to get a qualifying mark for NY and then start knocking out majors from there.
