We knew it wasn't going to be good. He said he was feeling stingers so he flew to LA to see a spine doctor about a week ago. Two days ago, Jason Garrett said he was going get second opinions on it but wouldn't explain as to why, and now we get hit with this.

I didn't realize it's taken its toll on a number of athletes

I just hope he consulted a physician in time that this won't affect his overall well-being.

GBS untreated can lead to paralysis and death within days. I don't know yet for sure this is the end of his playing days though. Most patients make a full recovery with ample rest and treatment

This can be really bad. I have a friend who got this & was completely paralyzed for a few months. It took him a few years to be fully back to normal. It is a bad deal. I hope he is okay.

Terrible for him and his family, he’s always awesome on the radio and what not and seems like a really cool dude. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.

Career definitely needs to take a backseat for now. I’d assume he’ll at the very least miss this season.

My uncle had this and it was a nightmare. Took 2 years back to some normalcy.

I was diagnosed with the chronic version of Guillain Barre (CIDP) when I was in middle school and I wouldn't wish it on anybody in the world. I completely lost the ability to move my right hand for a period of time and was constantly sick. On top of the side effects of GBS, the year-and-a-half of treatments completely drained what was left of my energy.

On the bright side, GBS can be treated, unlike ALS or MS. It's just a long road back to normalcy.

I had Gillian Barre Syndrome and it sucked. Had the Miller’s Fisher Variation. I could not wipe my arse after taking a shite...could not get my arms up over my head...hold a fork to eat...had Bells Palsy with it.
I got it from having the flu...you can get it from flu shots and your body is run down from illness, the body starts attacking you nerves and muscles thinking it is attacking a virus.

Spent 4 days in the hospital getting $150,000 a bag of plasma IV pumped in my body. Took me 3 weeks, but I was back in the pool training with my swims slowly. The neurologists said because I was a swimmer and the caught it in time, I was able to recover well.

To get a diagnosis, they did a spinal tap and a nerve conducting tests. Seems like the caught his quickly and his recovery will be better.

Hopefully it’s not the end of his playing days because he’s a hell of a player. Hopefully they caught it early and he will only miss this season. I’m sure Jerry Jones will make sure he has cutting edge medical care available to him as well

Yeah how much of a loser do you have to be to have that lack of perspective?

I had this before. Kept me in the hospital 23 days. And had to rehab for 3 months. Paralyzed me from my eyes to my feet. I slept with my eyes open. Couldnt do anything but lay in bed. A blood transfusion probably saved my life because I was continually going down hill until they went to that option. I got it from a virus. Id bet money he is done for the year.
