Forget what his 2* does to our recruiting rankings, he's not even Top 3 at the position. The long snappers ranked ahead of Quentin Skinner are committed to NC State, Indiana, Minnesota and Washington State.

You know not every school is offering long snappers every year right? And as subjective as recruiting is, I wouldn't get worked up over long snapper rankings.

No it’s not simple. It’s actually really fricking hard.

I have no issues with this AT ALL.

We have been solid at snapper for more than a decade for this reason.

I'd be curious to know what percentage of P5 teams use a scholarship on a long snapper. Have no idea. You don't generally see punt snaps going over punters heads every game, so maybe every team give a LS a scholarship? Its not as if you see bad snaps all the time and think that team must have a walk-on long snapping.

Again, it's not really about the snap itself, but being an extra man on the coverage unit.

Talent is so deep, due to Oregeron and staffs intuitive recruit evaluation, it permits using a scholarship for a deep snapper.

Don't worry the program is in good hands.

Heres the deal you really only have to allocate one of these scholarships once per 3-4 yrs. This just happens to be one of those years.

Under appreciated position. No one notices them until a snap goes over the punters head

I have zero issue using 1 out of 85 scholarships on a long snapper

This, all day long.

We've had 1 bad snap in the last 7 1/2 seasons from the Ferguson brothers who are/were both on scholarship. And that one snap was on Blake's first career punt snap.

OP is either bored, trolling or not very bright.

Alabama seems to have no problem using a spot for a long snapper.
Cole Mazza (2013-2016) - RollTide | 247 Recruiting Profile
Thomas Fletcher (2017-Present) RollTide | 247 Recruiting Profile

Ohio State seems to have no problem using a spot for a long snapper.
Liam McCullough (2015-Present) - OhioStateBuckeyes | 247 Recruiting Profile

I'm sure I can keep going, but I'm going to stop there. These are 2 of the best programs this decade.

FWIW - Clemson's current long snapper is a PWO. I'm not sure about the guy before him.

I legit can't ever remember being mad at the long snapper over the past 10 years. I'll let the coaches do their job.

It's more than snapping. You have to be a D-1 caliber athlete with size too, which im sure you're not.

It would be one thing if this kid was some All-World long snapper, but as I said in my OP, he's not even at the top of his position and those ranked above him are committed to joke schools.

No it wouldn't, this is strictly a positional thing for you.

Do you expect a deep snapper to be a 5*?

You have two long snappers on the current roster one being a JR and the other is a walk on Frosh player.

48 Blake Ferguson SNP 6-4 235 Jr. 2L Buford, Ga. (Buford HS)
53 Will Cox SNP 6-4 267 Fr. HS Benton, La. (Benton HS)

No need to overlap scholarships have two of 85 for long snappers unless the recruit is "bat shite" special. Easy to get a top quality long snapper by just offering a LSU scholarship. I would much rather have some potential like another Justin Jefferson than a duplicate position we have well covered next year Notice Mazza and Fletcher did not overlap on years!

Come on, man. Yeah, ideally they wouldn't overlap much, but a one year overlap isn't that big of a deal. It could actually be beneficial so you don't have a true freshman handling it.

This isn't nearly as big of a deal as you people are making it out to be.
