Compared to the other backs on the market this year, yes he does.
Murray included.
Murray included.

Jackson will still get a lot of carries in that offense for as long as he holds up.
Ravens are really counting on him becoming RGIII if he never fricked his knee.
Also, we definitely want to be able to dumb this guy for a cheaper option when Kamara’s deal is up. I bet Murray’s deal does not have a lot of guarantees money on the back end.

when was the last time we needed 1 or 2 yards and he could just get that for us?
This, THIS, and more THIS!! It's was very frustrating knowing that 3rd and 2 were obviously passing downs for us.

Murray's deal is probably realistically like 3 yrs for 9-10
It's quite possible Ingram signed for less than what he wanted from NOLA, so let's not just assume the Saints could have signed him for the same amount. FA moves fast, and the team appeared to have acted decisively for whatever reason.
That said, it's disappointing the two sides couldn't agree given his importance to the team, locker room presence, and chemistry with Kamara and others.

I don't believe Ingram and S. Payton got along particularly well. Mark was pretty selfish and complained a lot when he lost touches.

Need teams bidding against each other.
He obviously didn’t have that.

Strange if true.
Is it possible his dumbass exaggerated the ravens offer hoping for a better counter offer and then got stuck with the ravens?

Maybe he misjudged the market and didn’t accept an offer from us thinking he was going to get more
based on the tweets yesterday, this seems like the issue
Saints didn't want to wait and possibly miss Murray and Ingram
Ingram thought he was getting at least $8M/year (based on hi s agent's leaks that came out on Twitter)
i imagine if he knew he'd get $5M/year, we would have gotten the deal done

I hope he does well. He improved on his fumbling and was a key player in a lot of games in 2017 and 2018 when others were getting all the glory.
Unfortunately, with the type of weather they have in Baltimore and a read option offense, his fumbling problems may come back to light.
I hated when we drafted him, but after he settled in I liked him a whole lot. He sometimes tried too hard for extra yards and fumbled the ball, but he improved his game year after year and gave his all it and has passion for the game . Mark carried the team on his back when given the opportunities and he was damn good for us. I wish him the best and hope he continues to improve.

You telling me we couldn't give him that money?
Over valued himself like Bell.

Or maybe he pulls a hammy in the first game and doesn't.

This is not a good look for the Saints no matter how you cut it. It makes the team look petty. Mark's teammates were all on twitter praying a deal got worked out. If it was only $500K difference then thats fricked. His teammates would have known if there was other issue preventing the signed and not wishing the Saints would get it done. Really bad look here.

Saints did exactly what they should have done. Offered Ingram a deal, he walked thinking he could get more. They signed the guy the had tapped as a replacement. The saints can’t do anything about the market for Ingram tanking.

per sean fazende
Saints offered 4/$17 but only $5mil guaranteed.

i suspected BAL's guaranteed money will close to double that

He clearly did not want to return bad enough.
