I would not have a problem with Dick if he were fair to all coaches in similar situations. Dick knows college basketball is crooked. why be hypocritical ? I think his value is measured in the access that he has with elite basketball coaches. That’s meaning for his ego.

Being objective without blatant bias requires maturity and courage. I don’t think Dick has either.

I agree. A death threat is saying you are going to come to his house and stab him in the neck. While wishing him a slow death is a sleazy comment, it isn't a death threat.

Vitale is being a drama queen bringing this up on national radio. He has been called out by LSU fans on his hypocrisy and he probably knows they are right but he is too proud to admit it. He finds the one comment by a moron out of the thousands of other comments and addresses that one but none of the other comments pointing him out as a hypocrite. The whole "death threat" route by him is like faking an injury after you make a bad play in a sporting event. You miss a block that leads to the QB getting sacked so you fake a hamstring injury to try to divert criticism from your coach. He isn't actually hurt by this comment as he claims he is he's just trying to stop the criticism.

Why get riled up over what Dick says? All the games are on CBS, TBS, TNT and TruTV. No need to even watch ESPN for this tournament.

The fact that he’ll bash LSU and blow Petino in the same interview shows he’s just a blue blood cock gobbler

Is this a new tape? The one I heard only talks about an "offer." No cash was discussed.

Sorry, I don't see it that way.

This isn't about internet trolling. I understand that folks get upset and say things they don't really mean. This is about the number of folks who feel compelled to express those things.
In the case of the UK player I mentioned, his property was vandalized and his family confronted in hostile situations. That's not normal.
It seems to me that our society has grown a little too tolerant of assholes and a-hole behavior.

Vitale using the "die a slow death" on a national radio show was said to get pity and to try and turn peoples attention away from him being the hypocrite that he is.

Dick is totally chickenshit to let what a few idiots say, and to make what they say be the voice of the whole LSU fan base. And as far as the "Alleva chant", that idiot Vitale is obviously unaware of Joe's history and he is only looking at this one instance.

Screw you Dick Vitale

Why did he mention the message in the first place? I guarantee he gets them all of the time, but the others don't fall into his crusade against Wade. Don't forget his initial attack right after the news dropped was mean, vicious and totally uncalled for. The thing is he's done this crap before and not too long ago. When Larry Brown lied to the NCAA about a test a player took, he literally into Brown and SMU with almost the exact tone. I figure what Wade and Brown have in common they have never kissed Dickie V's ring.

Lets go over the same list that almost all my fellow posters have done before.

Calipari leaves two schools who then go on probation. Talks about getting kids ready for the NBA above all else. Gives interviews this past Sunday with uniforms of Wall, Davis and Cousins behind him and mentions the $2+ Billion in contracts all his players have gotten. Not a peep from Dickie V and nothing on the latter from the NCAA BTW.

Self has an almost identical situation as Wade, maybe worse but because it happened in the Fall not a peep from DV. Doesn't make headlines I guess.

Williams part of epic academic fraud that should have gotten them epic penalties. Nothing from DV

Izzo forget the Nassar situation for a moment (I never will), one of his former players then coaches is involved in sexual assault case. Other players rumored to be too. Izzo does his best Sgt Schultz routine on Outside The Lines. Nothing from DV.

Lastly Coach K Mr Clean, Mr Perfect while nothing has been revealed but if anyone including DV thinks Duke is clean, I gotta a FIB for sale. Ever since he went all Calipari with the One And Dones something has stunk to high heaven.

Oh we don't have to mention Pitino.

You know it's sad. In the mid 80s to the early 90s it was great when he came to BR. You knew the program was a big deal. Then he became way too big and his ego caused to believe he was bigger than the game. Which means his act has become seriously tiresome.

you think the strong-arse offer was for candy? Don't get hyper-technical with semantics. Would you be happier if I said Wade's offer was for "some form of impermissible benefits, cash or otherwise"?

Feel better now? Nothing has changed - it's still a huge NCAA no-no.

Well, that "hyper-technical" information is kind of a big deal. Without cash/benefits exhanging hands or being specifically discussed they literally have nothing on Wade. He could easily say he was talking about an offer he knew another school offered Smart. See how easy that was?

Maybe but you or I don't have any way of knowing that with the information provided.

keep that head firmly buried in the sand.

“Dude,” Wade continued to Dawkins, referring to the third party involved in the recruitment, “I went to him with a [expletive] strong-arse offer about a month ago. [Expletive] strong.

“The problem was, I know why he didn’t take it now, it was [expletive] tilted toward the family a little bit,” Wade continued. “It was tilted toward taking care of the mom, taking care of the kid. Like it was tilted towards that. Now I know for a fact he didn’t explain everything to the mom. I know now, he didn’t get enough of the piece of the pie in the deal.”

Dawkins responded by saying, “Hmmmm.”

“It was a [expletive] hell of a [expletive] offer,” Wade continued. “Hell of an offer.”

I never said I don't believe Wade was offering cash. I'm saying that it will be the NCAA's responsibility to PROVE it. Based on that tape and the fact they've already investigated Smart and cleared him means the money trail isn't there. LSU may cut ties with Wade based on that phone call but it may happen without ever PROVING he paid players.

Now this clown is on Get Up this morning talking about Rick Pitino and says (I'm paraphrasing a little)

"Say what you want about Rick Pitino, he knew, he should've known, but he never, ever got caught on any wire tap discussing this or that about offering something to a recruit like what happened down there on the bayou."

This clown fricker literally said that it was ok for Pitino because there is no recording of Pitino fricking up. I've always loved and defended Dick, but his hypocrisy is pathetic in this deal.
