Fact is that Orgeron was hired as part of a business model for football that requires top coordinators. Its a precarious situation and we're lucky he inherited Aranda.

He also hasn't had Alabama/UGA level recruiting, even though that is advertised as his main asset.

I'm rooting for him to do well though. The model is just very hard to sustain if the coach can't actually coach one side of the ball at an elite level and isn't recruiting as well as the top schools.

The 2nd most upset person on LSUs campus right now is Orgeron. He lost his safety net.

He will have to put up or shut up now. I like it

I don't want this to turn into another Orgeron gripe thread.

I am not saying that Joe made the best hire possible but if you are looking at the development of our football team over the last 2.5ish years and you still don't think O is at the very least a "qualified head coach" then you have your head in the sand.

went 6-2 against a pretty meh schedule in 2016.
beat the breaks off the heisman winner, that was a plus.

2017 started with a bang, then got bad real quick with the worst loss in the 90 year LSU ms state rivalry and then reached its nadir with a 24-21 loss to a mid major that wasn't nearly as close as the final score indicates.

2018 saw improvement by virtue of the fact that the bar was lowered by 2017's up and down season. some of the contenders (preseason top ten miami, auburn) turned out to be pretenders, and even in a 36-16 drubbing of UGA, LSU found a way to leave points on the board with 5 FGs inside of 40 yards. anyone in that stadium that day who says they weren't nervous at 19-9 is a bonafide liar.

he also improved recruiting this year from last year by virtue of signing a class so mediocre, that 4 of the players from it have already been processed out. he struck gold this year with some studs, but again, the improvement was only because the bar was lowered by his own doing.

I mean its just a true statement

I am not hating on O, but he lost the guy that hired him. Its a big deal for him now to produce, far more so than before

because he hasn't had any actual success that proves he's worthy of being our coach.

- Win the SEC West? nope.
- Beat Bama? nope.
- Establish a better offense than Les Miles? Not yet. Maybe this year?

Let's be honest here. People only think Orgeron is exceeding expectations because the expectation were lowered dramatically when he was hired. If Les Miles was still our coach with the exact same results as Orgeron, people would be calling for him to be fired.
