Whatever makes you feel better.

I know you don't work in a hospital, as I have yet to see an RNA (or RN of any stripe, for that matter) run a code. Then again, if I'm there I'm (or another doc) running it, so....

As to NPs and PAs "calling shots" in clinics.... well there certainly are clinics run by midlevels. Some with physician "supervision", others with doc "collaboration", and some without altogether (depending in state/local law).

Mid-levels have done a great job of achieving via legislation rather than education. Congratulations.

You obviously have never been in a hospital other than as a patient. Your opinion is irrelevant.

I’m not a nurse or Mid-Level so thanks I guess

Like I said, believe what makes you feel best I suppose. If you click your heels together and say "there's no place like home" then maybe you will wake up in Kansas, Dorothy.

I don't know what you do for a living and don't really care tbh. I wouldnt run into you unless you're a patient (and since you said youre not in medicine/nursing, why is your opinion on "the way things are" relevant?) and unlike the nurses who made those memes about that senator, I'd treat you anyway.

Do ER nurses even get breaks? If it is a busy shift, it's not like they can take a break, plan a lunch break, etc..

Some times we do get breaks. I have gone shifts where I ate my lunch in 30 second intervals till I finished it knowing I wasn’t going to get a break. That’s either due to the ER being very busy or nurse call ins causing us to be short staffed. I’ve had days where I’m so drained mentally and other days I feel like a kicked arse or saved a life. Then there are days were I’m doing cpr to a 3 month old as her mother and father are asking me if she’s going to be ok? You can’t show any emotions, but it’s hard at times to box it in. Chasing a psych patient outside who could harm himself or others is always fun.

I'm starting to understand why there are so many TV dramas based around hospitals.

Some of you should just be glad with the career you chose, do your job, then go home and find something else to take pride in. Most people don't care how important you think your job is. There are lots of people out there busting their arse to help others without looking for a pat on the back.

Hey nurse. I have not read your thread yet so forgive me if my thoughts have already been brought up. The Senator lives in the SE part of WA, 3 miles from Oregon. It is about 5 miles outside of Walla Walla. Her town is actually the home of Walla Walla university, a liberal arts religious college.

The town has less than 9k people. She is probably racist because less than 2% of her town is black. Her main issues in the senate are agricultural. A pet peeve of hers is medical costs.

She looks like an old, fat granny. She should be needing medical care at any time. Let them know she is coming at the next meeting.

I'm legit impressed you made it through med school. You don't seem to have much sense.

Are you familiar with the socio-political climate of WA now? The Californians ruined CA and migrated through Oregon, Washington and now, 4-5 other states, destroying as they went.

Equality is mandatory. She may only atone by donating her home to some ancestors of worse times in this country.

To clarify the context my post to you...it was no insult at you btw. Hope you didn't see it that way

Just pointing out that even the physicians in the thread think that dude is a massive douchebag.

No, none taken at all.

This person is clearly trolling. Dare I say it's likely the same individual who came here 1-2years ago trolling about a bill in the house that would give nurse practitioners full autonomy. I didn't believe he/she was a physician then nor do I think this person is now.

As for the topic, this is such a ludicrous statement from the senator. To degrade what many feel is one of the most regarded and noble professions out there takes some serious stones. Her behavior makes a you question how in touch she is with the community she serves.

LOL. Board certified in nurse “anesthesiology.” How many terms would you like to steal to prop yourself up as something you are not? Are you a doctor of nursing too? Why not just be proud to be a nurse anesthetist?

And why do you keep talking about the money you make. If that was your goal you should’ve been an anesthesiologist. Then you could actually been an expert in anesthesiology and had a higher paycheck.

Don’t you love it when people that have not the slightest clue about healthcare make ignorant statements like BeaumontBengal?

Dumbarse probably doesn’t even know that there are actually doctorate of nursing programs.

Yep, waydown is correct.

There are DNP programs. Hundreds of them.

Interesting that you can't earn a medical doctorate online but you sure as hell can get that DNP on the net, lol.

Also, the CRNA who keeps calling himself an anesthesiologist is absolutely misrepresenting his field and his qualifications. Just like DNPs that introduce themselves as "doctor".

What I do not love is doctorates of nursing misrepresenting themselves to patients and calling themselves doctors in the medical setting. I also do not love the stealing of terns such as nurse “residency”, board certification, nurse “anesthesiologists,” etc. Why do some people feel the need to misrepresent themselves and their education to patients?

Must be hard to be a nurse. I only worked >18 hours in the operating rooms the other day with no "breaks" aside from case turnover. Then again MDs dont work "shifts", but some nurse will be quick to say we dont spend time with patients or provide "holistic care", whatever the frick that is. Take your attitude back to facebook while you wait on punch out time and you can hit the door while doctors continue to save lives. Better yet, get back to me when you're carrying a pager and in the hospital nights, holidays and weekends.

You sure sound bitter.
