anyone know of a good pond in or near Metairie to train a young retriever? It is time to get my youngster's toes wet. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

The spillway might be your best bet.Not sure if it is frowned upon but City Park?

I used to go on the back trails of scout island where they run along the pond in city park, never had a problem as long as I stayed away from people. After a while I preferred finding grassy ditches with thick stuff along the edges, gave a bit more of a realistic scenario if a dead bird in the marsh.

end of Lake Villa, walk over the levee... lake stays shallow for a good ways out.
