Thanks. Gators obviously a concern. I'll give the lake side of the levee a try as you suggested. Might try city park for the first of times just to get her used to water--need somewhere I can wade in with her at first, so hopefully that will work.

lafreneiere a no go.... no easy in / out.
city park has some fair spots.. but.. lots of broken glass/metal in water near bank...
find some ponds along river batture...
small pond in west end park actually has a some practical use.
golf courses have some decent and technically good ponds..
but when i live in metairie... went to spots other than the spill way .... about 2% of the time......
seawall at lake a very very bad idea.. bottom steps slippery as heck.....
