The consequences of retaliation is another strike from the US. How many more shots do you think Trump will approve directed at military forces before he approves a strike on Tehran itself? Iran has a way out of this. Stop the foolishness. Just stop the aggression.

It really goes back to our relationship with Jerusalem and Riyadh. As long as we choose to intervene on their behalf and support their domination of the region, Iran will be our enemy. But there’s no intrinsic conflict between us.

How about back in the 60's when the CIA aided in overthrowing their democratically elected president and installing the Shah---you don't think that has anything to do with their longstanding hatred of the US???? And we did that because we feared they were too cozy with the RUSSIANS.

I don’t think they care anymore.
That was 67 years ago.
If it does anything, it just shapes their perception of us as an imperial power.
