If it’s a quantum code it probably deals with similar quantum type problems. For instance, the quantum superposition issue, where a particle is said to be in many states at one time. It’s possible that that alone is causing it to be difficult to make clearer images.

shite gets weird at the quantum level

ETA: also, the end of 2001 is what I was talking about, not HAL. The alien facility, floating fetus baby in a Buddha pose

Just started this series last night and loved it. Pretty much everything it is about is right up my alley. It is kind of scratching an itch left by Legion, especially the quality and style. Garland has another winner on his hands IMO.

Oh, and Lily is the same chick from Ex Machina and Maniac.

She was great in Maniac.

Haven't started it yet, is it already on the last episode? Is this a limited series or just a show with shorter seasons like Peaky Blinders for instance?

Loved the last episode with the double slit reference that experiment had always been mind blowing to me. Good show.

Was really looking forward to this and was hoping it would be on FX weekly. Hulu is the worst streaming service so guess I won't be watching.

It's on this free site.

me too

spoilers:

I was kinda disappointed in the finale and it didn't make a whole lot of sense why did the machine stop when the thing fell and not when she threw the gun out? I don't know it kind of fell flat to me.

So are there infinite simulations going on with infinite aware Lily and Forests? And some of the simulations are just absolutely brutal?

Yes. and they get to live in a good one.

It's just a San Junipero reboot. this theme needs to go away unless someone has a truly new take on it.

Vanilla Sky, San Junipero, Devs, and Upload next.

But it's not, the simulation Lily and Forest end up in, everyone but them is simulates , making everyone else fake.

Is not like San Junipero, Lily's Jamie is not really him, he's just a computer simulation.

I'd rather be dead then trapped knowing everything was fake but me.

San Junipero was a happy ending, this was dreadful to me.

well, lily and forest are also infinite simulations. they just have their "data" more up to date. i think the show def should have shown some more glimpses of the "bad" realities possible at the end, to drive home the multiverse stuff.

i also thought the show did a very poor job of making determinism "real." it was very frustrating to watch characters just say "well, i have no choice," only for the show to end with someone doing the very simple action of choosing to the do opposite of what they were shown doing. dunno, the whole premise was hard to buy cause the show never made me think free will was impossible, it just told me so. until it wasnt.

I really enjoyed this show. Super atmospheric and suspenseful, tech that was beyond the scope of our understanding and somehow conceivable at the same time, Offerman I thought was really good, and a bittersweet ending.

I’m about it.

I really enjoyed it too. It wasn't perfect but it was good.

Spoilers:

I am confused by how he got into Devs at the end? Anyone have insight into that?
