Yes. We do.

Between 2000-2010, just north of 40% of imprisonments were for non-violent offenses.

But then we still have a huge problem... That doesn't really provide a path forward or a solution.

I guess you never worked in a hospital then. But you are right, it was just an example.

Even ignoring a lot of factors that skew those numbers (plea deals, multiple offender situations, parole violations, etc.), that does not at all mean we are imprisoning MOST non-violent offenders.

Never said that we do.

I said we should rarely imprison non-violent offenders.

The path forward includes treating media (social and other) conglomerates as trusts and dismantling them.

Step 1. Change the message.

Step 2. Term limits.

Step 3. Return immigration policy to pre-ww2 legislation levels.

Step 4. End birthright citizenship.

Step 5. Repeal the 17th amendment to the US Constitution

There's a lot more....

Might want to fact check that number against unemployment and total welfare benefits.

Only like 50% of this country pays into our tax system and the top 15% pays like 90% of a taxes.

My only point was in reaction to this statement, though:

I’m arguing that we should not imprison them in most cases.

I agree. I was simply pointing out, I’m pretty sure we don’t currently do so.

privatize our prisons and move them to Mexico. Clear the slate.

I’ve always said don’t even imprison murders, rapists and child molesters.

I think you should be deported if you’re found guilty of any of those three crimes. Put them on a plane. Strap a parachute on them and make them jump in eastern Siberia. If you’re found in the US again, you’re looking at the death sentence.

Kind of like how the deficit matters when Democrats are elected after Republicans run it up

All three should be capital crimes with a much revised and limited appeals process, especially in the existence of direct evidence. Streamline and execute.

They can start with attitude. You’re lying to everyone and yourself if you’ve never ran into a cop or have seen a cop on video being a dick because he think he’s untouchable.

If we are asking for reform based on attitude can we add The DMV to the list? I re-read your post and replaced cop with ‘insert any government employee here’ and it still works

Insisting that black people clean up their own communities and do a bit of self-reflection is racist.

Went 180 degrees off-topic just to let out your pent up frustration with BLM. Now back to the discussion.

Last weekend there was 84 shootings and 24 deaths in Chicago last weekend. Over 25 shootings this weekend so far. Where is BLM when their Brothers are dying in the streets by the hands of their other brothers ? My message to BLM, clean up your own neighborhoods before you force your agenda on everyone else. Defunding the Police is the mindset of ignorant people.

Along with the mindset of dismissing thugs with badges just bc there are thugs without badges.

Rational people know that both are wrong & we shouldn’t fund any government policies that aren’t working. I know law enforcement is needed but we do not need to keep funding so many people to enforce bullshite laws.
