This might work in Mayberry, but I'll give it 6 weeks max before the casualties dry up the applicant pool for this gig.

I might be wrong but I feel like the psycho street dweller stabbing someone could be a reason an officer of the law responded to these types of calls on the first place.

You are wrong. For street dwellers, the street is their domicile. Stabbing someone in your domicile is a domestic dispute. A social services case worker should be phoned.

When every second counts, the social services case workers are just a bike ride away.

Well the homeless already use the streets as toilets so I’m not sure what changes.

Many of these "non-criminal" activities remain so because the police intervene before it becomes criminal activity. Now, if you have a problem with a neighbor you'll have to resolve it yourself by any means necessary. LOL

Now, if you have a problem with a neighbor you'll have to call for an arbitrator.

All of a sudden, all those degreed college grads with their less than valuable social work degrees will find employment. At least they'll be employed until the domestic violence does to them what it does to police.

But, riddle me this, with the tendency of prosecutors to down grade crimes to get perps to have lesser sentences and NO trials but minor convictions, will this mean that some crimes are downgraded and this makes them not a crime at all?

I agree that cops should not be involved in school disciplinary issues.

what is a non criminal call?

Assist motorist, escort business owners to car with money bag, funeral escorts, standing by’while a roommate/significant other retrieves their property from a house, etc etc.

ETA: these are my guesses but God only knows what SF considers non-criminal

Bad idea. Anytime something involving mental health goes south at a hospital requires intervention, police are called to assist. I guess we are just going to rely on nurses to handle patients of all sizes now without help?
