One of the best character driven writing ever. Such a great premise.

The mysteries were addicting and the internet was abuzz with trying to decipher it all.

It was an amazing time to be alive. Similar to the early seasons of Game of Thrones.

And just like GoT, Lost turned out to be a million mysteries with no real answers, plot hooks and plot holes and promises of answers to questions by people who had no fricking clue what the answers were.

In the end, the writers played every sympathy card and tugged at every heart string as hard as they could, in the hopes that the sheer tidal wave of emotion would flood people's brains with serotonin and make them forget about all those pesky plot holes and unanswered questions.

And it worked for some. But others, that had time to get over the image of Jack lying there staring at the sky as the faithful yellow lab lay down beside him, started to remember all those things that didn't add up. All those promises of answers to questions, still unanswered.

I am one of those people. So frick Lost.

And frick GoT

And frick Battlestar Gallactica.

All three played the same bullshite game, and it sucked.

After a recent re-watch, and having seen this basic sentiment in the past, can you describe what exactly wasn't answered that has driven you to hate the show?

I started to type up my list, and admittedly it's been since it aired live that I watched is so I was struggling to be specific.

I found this youtube video that rips through a ton of them.

It's a bit over the top but it shows the sheer number of "mysteries" that were just written in as mind fricks with no real end game that wraps them all up.

I know that in real life not all questions get answered, but the main theme of the show was that "answers to questions will be revealed next week on Lost!". It was their schtick and they just kept on playing it over and over.

Also, my hate is probably compounded by BSG and GoT doing the same damn thing. Oh, and I'll add Alias to the list as well.

One of the reasons I have such great respect for Vince Gilligan is that he actually delivers on an end to his story arcs.

JJ Abrams has become famous for starting awesome mystery/drama/action stories, then bailing on them mid-stream, leaving the remaining writers to make shite up as they go with no clue how it was supposed to end.
