MB will not go pro next year, he will however , with a good year this year, will be potentially be vying for a top round QB draft pick the next. I agree he is the QB this year but don’t get ahead of yourself, even the great Joe needed 2 years to develop into what he became.

So let’s pretend he puts up 75% of joe’s production. That’s 4200 yards and 45 touchdowns.. Why in the world would you come back to school if you put up numbers like that? Especially at quarterback because the nfl is a qb driven league. You can find a QB in every draft since 2010 that had LESS production than that in their last college season.

That will be hard to do though.

With his physical abilities and what we have in skill position players? 75% has Myles throwing for 280 ypg. Completely doable. I’ll even say I expect it. We only play 3 teams that should be able to keep us under 40 anyway. This isn’t the LSU of old..

Agree with you here. It's not uncommon for QBs to throw for 280 a game with the systems now. It should be expected with our offense, if the scheme remains the same. 450-500 total offense should be the expectation. Good td numbers low ints and solid play in big games could mean Brennan is gone. The loaded group set to be in the draft could help us.

True, but I’m going in with the hope that Max Johnson sees some time in clean up duty because it will be his team next year.... hopefully.

He only has 10 regular season games to put up those numbers. They have had no real offense to work. Temper your expectations a little. I will be extremely happy if he does though.

Use the averages. Say 280 yds, 3 TDS, that's 2800 and 30. In 10 conference games I'd say most of us would be pleased with that production, especially if he limits mistakes/turnovers. Honestly think those numbers should be expected if the scheme remains the same.

Uhh yea if Myles tosses 30 in his first year with the keys I’d hope you’d be pleased. Like 10-12 guys do that a year with 2-3 more games. Joe threw 16 in 2018.

transfer QB from Ohio state
Great player. Not a good fit for our offense.
Ride with Brennan then M Johnson...

Ha what part of Justin Field’s game do you think makes it not a good fit for LSU’s offense?
Day and Fields ran the zone read out of the shotgun as well as anyone last year and incorporated under-center power ball for when teams shifted to try and cover the spread. Fields was as ruthless behind center as any one in the country except for one guy...

I'm not for this thread but to say he wouldn't fit the offense is laughable
Ohio state runs alot of the same concepts

Yeah, but we don’t go under center so that’s doesn’t natter. Fact if the matter is fields is a far and away better athlete than MB. MB is a better passer. Fact if the matter is as a coach in college, you mold your offense to your players strengths, or else you won’t have a job long. So saying he’s not a good fit may be true in the Joe Burrow offense, but that would be a completely different playbook for any new QB however it’s still under the same concepts.

My point was that the OSU offense does both well, and Fields is a versatile player and would be a fine fit for LSU’s new RPO+ offense. He also played very aware and knew when to run, like Burrow.
I’m also completely on board with Brennan, he deserves his shot.
(and Fields threw for 70% and was top 3 in TDs and passer rating last year. To say Brennan is a better passer before he’s played a meaningful snap is pretty high praise.)

I’d say Nuss or a transfer

Getting Fields won’t happen. Orgeron would lose all credibility for giving Myles the middle finger
So we turned down fields and he end up at Alabama because of Myles feelings? Ok

I didn’t want to reply to anyone specifically - so I chose the OP.
I have read numerous people saying they have hoped LSU would not bring in a transfer QB because of:
- Brennan has earned the #1 spot (talent + loyalty)
- It would be unfair if some transfer suddenly leaped ahead of him
- What would it do to his psyche?
I understand this reasoning. But I just don’t agree with it. Mainly for one reason: “What would our QB room look like if Brennan were to suffer a season-ending injury in our 3rd game?”
You simply cannot have too much talented or experienced depth at the QB position. You should strive to never have your entire season hinge on one potential injury. In this case, Kirby Smart is right to keep stockpiling QBs. It greatly enhances the likelihood that at least one of them pans out.

Joe had 15 games to do that. Myles will end up with 11-13 with 11 being the most realistic. He will be a first year QB with no easy non cons to get the ball rolling. I'd expect a state line of something like 3000 yards with 25 TDs/10-15 INTs. That will get him drafted though. Depends on if he wants to try and pull a Burrow two years after.

I'm highly optimistic for Brennan this upcoming season, but I don't think there's any way that you can peg Brennan as a better passer than Fields. Fields threw for 3200 yards and 41 TDs on 9.2yds/att last year. That would be an absolutely OUTSTANDING outcome for brennan. In all likelihood, Brennan won't match fields in terms of passing--even if he has a good season.

My reasoning for saying that is the system at osu doesn’t consistently ask you to make tough throws. Seriously, watch their games. They do a wonderful job of getting their guys wide arse open. In our system we just play more to our guys natural ability. The osu qb’s have not consistently made it in the league very long. Of course we don’t have the sample size of nfl qb’s to prove my point. But I saw the same video of Myles throwing at practice that y’all saw and I’ll admit, I was juiced up about it..... I miss football so much.
