You are supposed to look thin. You shouldn’t be eating for pleasure. You should eat for survival. Take that attitude and you won’t be fat.

Yeah sure, thinner is better for a litany of reasons, but that particular philosophy leaves me wondering - what's your overarching purpose for survival? You got a bet with a buddy to see who lives longer?
Enjoying life Trumps all for me, within reasonable bounds. Joie de vivre. Had a few cliches I needed to burn.
ETA...also, "can't take it with you." The money or the bod.
