hard to believe technology exist to cover those distances between stars
Many believe that life evolved on other planets and that it might be millions of years older than humans. Thus they also believe that aliens would have had the time to develop the incredible technologies, as depicted in Sci-Fi movies, etc. However, no amount of advanced technology could actually defy or ‘turn off’ the laws of physics that govern our universe. This would be necessary even to travel at a reasonable fraction of the speed of light, let alone faster. The problems in basic physics are insurmountable.

basic physics
That’s the point. It’s not basic physics. It would be something we don’t understand yet. But hey, maybe we do live in the only time in history when everything we know about physics is set in stone and exactly right. Anything is possible.

One would have to develop a vehicle with an independent gravity system to control velocity and matter outside the vehicle and gravitational force inside.
The fact that you can see stars millions and billions of miles away suggest space is free from debris for straight line travel.

Welcome to a new millennium. The 1900s wants it's fake physics back.

Let’s set aside the speed over distance problem for a moment. You also would have to know where to look. We’re a fly speck solar system, on the edge of an unremarkable galaxy. Btw, I’m positive that the speed over distance problem is insurmountable...but I’m open to having my mind changed..as if anyone cared.
There’s also the issue of progression. The earth didn’t form into a life supporting planet instantly. There was a progression of events that gradually shaped the environment, which incidentally, will be hostile to life in another 800 million years as the earth moves from its present orbit. But forget that, let’s speak of the real issue we’ll never find life elsewhere.
We know, absolutely, that there have been several extinction events from space. This is an existential threat to every single species and every single person. The greatest nation this planet has ever seen is tearing itself apart instead of addressing the threat to our existence. And the saddest part is, we have the technology, we just don’t have the foresight.
You see, we’re not as smart as some of you think we are. Your way of life doesn’t mean a single frick to an asteroid, and yet, that’s our focus. Orangeman/antifa. It’s laughably sad.
