The game has changed. Many attorneys charge for the services now only and the retainer comes when they are activated. That's how mine works, but he is not a criminal defense attorney.

If you have a family you should have an attorney. Basic family law stuff like will’s, child custody, trusts, end of life preferences, insurances. My family attorney is fairly well known where I live (elected official) but he also practices criminal law. I’ve even used him with insurance company disputes after a hurricane. Every parent should have a will and life insurance.

Almost everyone I know, that has a CCL, has A team of attorneys At the ready. That Texas gun attorney program is relatively cheap.
