3. Call 911.
The only information the 911 dispatcher needs to know is:
- What assistance is needed;
- Your name and the location of the emergency;
- What you look like/are wearing; and
- That you have been the victim of a crime.

Just a question so I don't step on my tongue if this ever occurs...What are some examples of each item?

What assistance is needed? What does this mean? That you need police, ambulance etc?

It's an honest question..if I have it right in my head now, I won't say it wrong when it matters.

Yep. That’s all.
Police. Ambulance. Physical address. What you’re wearing.

Yes. They need to know what services to dispatch to the scene. Ie: police, fire, or EMS.

In the example of you shooting someone, you would need police to come secure the scene (because even though you didn't commit a crime per se, it is still a crime scene) and collect evidence. You would also need EMS to try and possibly perform care on the person who was shot.

The EMS thing gets in some people's head, but the bottom line (for me anyway) is I do not want to kill another person (despite what some would have you believe about people who carry firearms). That firearm is a tool to keep me and my family safe. I will, however, neutralize the threat to myself or my family. If EMS is able to care for and save that person's life, then so be it. But as I said, first priority is making sure the threat is neutralized

You would say, for example, "I need an ambulance at the corner of Main and Central. I'm the victim of a crime. I'm white and am wearing a blue T-shirt with an eagle on the front, blue jeans and glasses."

Hopefully, if you shot an intruder, then you'll need to ask for the coroner.
