Now most of the mower decks are stamped steel and even if cleaned well after every use they rust out over time.

Right now I have a Briggs & Stratton engine sitting in my shed after removing it from a mower that was falling apart due to the deck being so corroded.

Count Fleet won the Triple Crown in 1943, and lived to see (or hear about?) Secretariat win it 30 yrs later

HE-111 waist gunner firing his post side 7.92mm MG15 machine gun. High losses during the Polish Campaign lead the Luftwaffe to add two machine guns, one to the port side, other to the starboard side, to give the HE-111 better protection from side attack. But due to limited space, as you can see here, there was only room for one gunner to man both machine guns. If you look under his feet, you can see the ventral machine gunner’s position.

I bought a 5 ft woods mower for my tractor in 1980. It was rusting out in 1990. I called woods engineering and they said that was a good life span. I designed a new mower deck and bought 304 stainless steel sheets and had Ascension Sheetmetal fab the new deck. That was in 1990 and today, 34 yrs later, it still looks brand new with zero corrosion.

My brother and I chunked one of these off the top of the State Capitol Building back in the day. I hope some bored State employee saw him float by.
