IMO, he's doing it now to keep Doty from transfer portal. If Doty loses the job in fall camp he's still at SC for 2021 season.

Hadn't really considered that, but it makes sense.
I guess coaches are going to have to start making some interesting moves just to adapt to these new transfer rules (and the inevitable intra-conference waiver).
