I had a feeling that it would be much worse than pictures could convey. How was LA1 getting in? You just know someone is going to hit a hole doing 60mph and get a few flats.

Not too bad. We expected the road to be much worse but only a few spots were broken up

Yep. Leeville is gone

A lot of areas on the Isle are completely wiped out.

Id go to say 50% of the camps along hwy 1 or in general in GI are gone beyond repair. I have to completely gut mine and feel lucky to have a structure to work with. Take what you see on pictures and multiply x 100.

From what I’ve seen drone footage, we got really lucky. I couldn’t make it down this weekend due to work but just hoping for best. I still know it’s gonna hurt to go down once I can. To see the people around you that grown up with get wiped out is tough to swallow

Just heard back from a couple of friends that went down. They said this is no Katrina. The damage across the board is much greater than aerials and drones could indicate. While roofs look intact on the camps still standing, doors, walls, etc were blown in and the interiors wrecked. I've heard on the east side, there was about 3' of water, but it was more violent than before. Stuff on the bottoms were washed away in that 3'.

My camp is on the east side. We had 40-42” water. I have 5-6 pieces of missing siding and a couple pieces of fence. No Damage inside.
We are extremely lucky.

I don’t know why, but seeing these kinds of messages over and over again are starting to bug me.
it’s annoying let’s be honest, but you can’t expect much from a northerner. Especially in the region he’s from. They live with a foot permanently stuck in their mouth. I saw someone the other day (not from area) say we shouldn’t be allowed to build on the water like that due to storms. I mean all along every coast there’s homes/camps/beach houses. The eastern seaboards been hit before extremely hard, and even New Jersey got blasted with Sandy. California has massive earthquakes should they never build anywhere there? These type of comments like he said are just stupid.

Sorry to see that. It’s so sad.

Our family camp is still standing in Grand Isle but it has significant damage. Will need to be gutted at a minimum.

Same thing see on the island. Whole camps are destroyed but have small items on decks that didn’t move. Crazy
