Everyone on defense can crowd and disquise the blitz from CB, S and LB if you are only looking to throw the ball 10 yards and below. That’s why the backup QB is more appealing because he is willing to take the top off the defense. Taking the top off the defense makes the safety and CB back up to cover longer routes which means the RB have more room to run.
