Looking to take a quick trip to San Antonio for a couple of nights. This would be Thanksgiving week.

Fly to SA Sunday afternoon. Dinner, etc.

Monday - Take a wine tour out to Texas Hill Country. I found one that is like an 8 hour tour.

Tuesday - do ??, fly back Tuesday night.

This is for anniversary so without kids. We've been to SA several times with kids so have done Sea World, Alamo, River tours, the market, Mi Tienda, etc.

Looking for suggestions of places to stay (was thinking in river area but I'm not committed to that) and also what to do on Tuesday for the day.

Thanks

My two most recent stays in SA have been at La Cantera and Hotel Emma. Both are great properties but I think Emma lends itself more to celebrating an anniversary. It’s located in the Pearl District where there’s always something going on, not to mention the excellent dining options within walking distance. It been consistently ranked near the top of all Texas hotels since it opened.

La Cantera is very nice and a little further from downtown. It’s the kind of resort property that has everything you need onsite. If you decide you absolutely must stay on the Riverwalk, Hotel Mokara is perfect for an anniversary stay.

If you don't want the river walk area, the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort is nice and has several restaurants on site including a nice steak place.

The new Thompson Hotel is really nice as well. You’re in between the Pearl and downtown.

Stay at LaCantera - the best restaurant in Texas is Signature in the Hotel....its Andrew Weissman's new place. Its the hottest restaurant in US right now ....reservations 3 months out on weekends Fri-Sat.....Sunday nite is doable probably 1 month out...I have friends that dine there and also dined at his place LaReve that he closed 8 yrs ago and they said that its the 2 best meals they ever had...

I don’t know, Ron. You don’t go to San Antonio for Arctic Char, Snails, etc.

If you want something besides great Tex Mex, try Bohanan’s. Get a steak. Their sister restaurant in Boerne, Peggys on the Green is fantastic also.

Ron don't listen to Mr. Sausage...what does an Aggie know about good food other than steak(and Bevo joining the SEC will be the end of Aggie happiness)..shite you can cook a steak yourself and save a ton of money...trust me when I say that the foodies who fly in there own jets from all over the US to San Antonio just to dine at Signature have a simple saying "the food at Signature is too good for the people of San Antonio" and that motto also applies to most of Texas. Its your anniversary you live once..Don't forget a trip for breakfast tacos to the Original Doughnut Shop is a must..best tacos you'll ever eat ...Carne Guisada taco will change your life...BTW Mr. Sausage my friends who dined there live there and there son was Aggie QB for 4 years and she being 2nd in command at Zachary Corp ...she's eaten at fine restaurants the world over and she says Signature and LeReve are 2 best meals she's ever had...Ron ..Mr. Sausage is just that a Sausage...

We stayed almost a week at the Hyatt hill country resortthis summer, 1st time and it was awesome… although it’s very family friendly, it would be awesome without our kids.

I went for a wedding a couple years ago. Stayed at Hotel Gibbs. It's right there across from the Alamo. Riverwalk is tight there also.

Great historical building. Great staff. GREAT BREAKFAST BUFFET.
