And firing him at the end of the season isn’t?

We are at 2 losses 5 games in.

It's fascinating how matter of factly national reporters are talking about the LSU job being open after the season. Its clear how far we're beyond whispering from discontented fans.

You are either the greatest troll on this board or the worst person I’ve ever heard talk sports.

Your takes are ALWAYS contrarian and dumb as frick. My wife can’t name a single player on the team and she knows O is getting canned.

A 5 loss season feels like a forgone conclusion at this point

5 losses is pretty much the ceiling at this point.

I really can't see how we get to 5 at this point.

UK probable loss
UF probable loss
Ole Miss probable loss
Bama definite loss
Arkansas probable loss
ULM probable win
Texas A&M probable loss

If we went 3-4 or worse to close the season I would not be shocked.

What’s worse for recruiting.

Firing the coach before the end of the season and making the statement that what’s going on is unacceptable. Or…

Keeping the coach and looking like a goat frick every Saturday.

Everybody in the local and national media is reporting he's a lame duck, barring some unforeseen miracle (at least nine wins). On top of that, you have a mountain of off the field issues. What exactly are you privy to that pretty much everybody else isn't?

He has little chance of being LSU HC next year.

I believe the only way he saves his job is to win the division.

Heck, agents probably have already spoken to our AD. I wouldn't be surprised if some big name has not already indicated interest.

It seems to me that it would be more hurtful to recruiting the longer we wait.

I don’t think there’s a chance in hell he makes it to the end of the regular season, barring LSU running the table (which isn’t happening)

I am not defending Coach Orgeron at this point.

I am saying that he won't be fired during the season.

Entering Season 8-4 Title IX issues will blow up. Fired for just cause
That hasn't changed

9-3 he stays, even with Title IX issues
8-4 he stays, unless Title IX issues blow up
7-5 same
6-6 he's gone at the end of the year

He's only gone midseason if he hits 5-6 losses early or if there is some very serious Title IX issue.

This analysis is 100% correct at this point.

I'm correct most of the time.

Wade - his last team didn't even make the Top 25 in NCAA basketball. The "gangster" is a lot of big talk, but until he is in the Top 25 at the end of every season he doesn't deserve the level of high praise.

In football, the team, even with some new "wonder" coach, is going to be weak. It will struggle over the next 2-3 years to make the end of the season Top Ten. I doubt LSU will be a Top Ten team at the end of the season until at least three seasons goes by (including this one).

This could change if LSU can master the use of the transfer portal.
