I've always thought that Bill Hemmer was basically the real life William Hurt character from Broadcast News. If MSNBC were smart, they would hire him as their “conservative correspondent“ and then just make a complete arse of him every day because he’s too fricking stupid to form an argument

thats exactly how she described him
he started wearing glasses even though he had perfect 20-20 vision, in hopes they would make him look smart - but then the crew started calling him Clark Kent behind his back
fwiw, she said he was a really nice guy, which was pretty rare in the TV news biz
