Both can be kept for a 15th round pick. Murray is projected 3-4 rounds ahead of Goff, but Goff seems like the much safer pick.

Goff has the easier schedule, better line, better receivers (including rbs), and better team overall. He also only has 3 outdoor games on his schedule where he's traditionally worse.

The only advantage I see Murray having is his legs. Goff doesn't run at all, but the Cardinals really cut back on Murray's running since he's aged and been injured, so I don't know if that's even much of an advantage anymore.

Who would yall go with?

I'm keeping Murray. I understand the Goff indoor numbers and surrounding talent, but Murray's running ability (he was coming off a torn ACL last year and by all accounts is closer to full-speed this year) combined with Arizona's awful defense means that he'll have to do a lot of heavy lifting this season.

This is a good point. I didn't think of this.

Let's look at an extreme example here of where this type of analysis can go off the rails when comparing two different types and talent levels of players

You could easily make that exact same argument for Goff vs Kyler...for Goff vs Josh Allen. Goff has a better line, better passcatchers, and a better team overall. Schedule is debatable, but ya get my drift.

Kyler was in a worse spot last year, coming back from his ACL with questionable WR play on the outside...and still outscored Goff in PPG. Now he gets an offseason to further heal (maybe leading to an uptick in running?) and get a true WR1 elite prospect in place of an oft-injured Hollywood Brown.

I would take Kyler and feel good about it.

How many yards will Kyler’s WR’s have?

Harrison
Jones
Wilson
Dortch

I asked AI to summarize projection versus actual on a per game basis over the last four years for both Goff and Kyler:

“ Jared Goff: Consistently exceeded projections by an average of 4.75% per game.

Kyler Murray: Generally underperformed projections by an average of 6% per game”

You can trust AI if you want to or not I just use it as a coin flip when I’m between different things.

Maybe look at your league’s scoring projections, and discount Kyler by a certain percentage and increase Goff by a certain percentage and pick the one that has the highest projected… if you’re really in between the two.

The goal is to win your league, Kyler gives you a better chance.

How is this even a debate? Kyler by a landslide

Not necessarily..you want a QB with a consistent floor. You shouldn’t rely on your QB to be the top point scorer week in and week out. I had Goff (averaged 20.1 PPG the last 2 seasons) last season and with a strong RB/WR group his consistent 18-22 points a week were enough. With that being said; I think Murray provides the same consistent floor and then some with his rushing capability. He's also more likely to pop off for those 25+ point weeks. I’d go Kyler.
