Need help with ESPN keeper league setup.

My league plays on ESPN and the way they have Keepers setup is the keeper will take the place of the first round draft pick, regardless of what round you drafted them in last year.
Our draft order is usually set as an inverse of the previous year's standings, so champion picks last, 2nd picks before that, etc. Then it's snake format from there.
My concern is if the champion picks last this year, he'd essentially get to keep Kamara the last pick of the first round and then get the first pick of the second round. This doesn't seem fair. How should I set this up?

since keepers all have the same value, just have them picked in the last round 
theres also an option to assign keepers to teams in ESPN Keeper leagues, and those players are already on rosters before the draft begins

How do you do this on ESPN? From what I can tell, it's very basic and only lets you turn it on or off. There's no customization I can find.

Not every team in our league wants to keep a player, so in this situation they will be picking at their normal first round draft position. I have the same problem with this.

Like someone else said in another thread, use Clicky Draft and input into espn aftwerwards.

I was under the impression all teams needed to select a keeper
if you're going to allow players to draft un-kept players in the 1st, there really isnt much to be done to prevent a Kamara/pick 13 situation IMO

It's an ugly solution but I think I'll just manually assign the keepers myself after the draft. Will probably move away from ESPN next year in that case...

Do an auction draft instead of a snake draft.
