Do not start players in your flex spot if you don't have to. Always put them in the RB or WR slot. You want to have as much roster flexibility as possible between Thursday and Sunday. Happens every year where someone gets screwed because a player in their flex already played and they need to move him to put someone in that slot.

Yep, I always put my players who are playing the latest in my most flexible roster spot.
RBs and WRs who play on Thursday or 12 on Sunday get the RB or WR slots. Sunday evening or Monday evening get the flex spots.
