What's the optimal draft position in a snake draft?

1st round: 4 through 8 so you're getting 17-21 in the 2nd?

First. There's a reason that alternate draft orders have been created in order to counter the advantage that the first couple of picks offer. Look up third round reversal, if you're unfamiliar.

In 12 team. 12.. its always 12. Id rather get 12 n 13th best player than 1st and 24th. Also first 3 picks is almost always a curse. U draft wrong back and he is on IR half season

This can happen anywhere on the draft board, and does every single year.

You’re kind of leaving out an important part. Getting 1, 24, and 25

Would rather have 12/13 than 1/24 any day of week. The 1s bust more than any other pick each yr.

I don't know what is statistical better for everyone. I can tell you in my 8 team leagues, 99% of my wins came with me picking 3-5. For my 10, it was 4-6, and for my 12 it was 4-8. Of the times I had first pick, I finished 3rd at the highest.

I'm liking 3/4 or 7/8 in 12 team leagues this year.

I like 4-6. Relatively decent tour around. Takes the pressure off the first pick.

I play in a 2 QB league so I can still usually get a top 3 back or #1-2 QB at that point.

10 team league, and I had 2nd pick. I chose #6. Not really interested in McCaffrey or Henry, and will have Cook, Mixon, Ekeler, Chubb or Najee at 6, then Chase, Diggs, Andrews, Davante at WR or Swift, Saquon and Aaron Jones at RB at Pick 14.

Every single time I’ve won a championship in my leagues (3 in the last 5 years) I’ve had a pick that’s 4-6. My worst teams have always been either in the first two picks or the last pick.

50% of that is random bad luck with injuries but part of that too was having to reach on guys I wanted that I knew wouldn’t make it back to me or just waiting for guys that weren’t as good. There’s a decent drop off between picks 15-18 and pick 24. You can probably throw the third overall pick into that loop as well. My deepest teams, even when I didn’t win, were picks right in the middle of the draft or picks right before the back end (7-8). That’s just my two cents

Won 3 years straight from 12th. Best pick in draft can always double up every pick.

You can win from any position. It really doesn't matter. You just need to do mock drafts to figure out your strategy as to whether or not to go RB heavy early or grab an elite WR or TE.

This is something we actually track in one of my leagues. It's a 10 team PPR league and this will be our 21st season. Pick #8 has won 8 out of 20 seasons. And picks #6-10 have won 15 of the 20 seasons.

which player would you not feel 100% comfortable with if they dropped to you?

If it's Deandre swift and you think he's the 7th best RB, and you think there's a possibility of the top 6 picks being RB, then draft 6.

If you're getting the choice to pick your position, you want to walk away feeling confident that your first pick will produce.

In a 2 QB if you think the top 4 picks are Allen, Taylor, CMC, Herbert and there's a huge dropoff after that, then pick 4th.

This is the 9th year of our league, I went back through the history to see which pick each winner was and every single one had a top 4 pick. A top 4 pick gives you a sure fire elite scorer unless they get hurt. The one year I won in 2018 I had gurley with the 1st pick and rode his 21 tds to a championship
