How do the tie-breakers work?

Divion:
Team A 8-5 (3-1 in DIV) 1970 points scored
Team B 5-8 (1-3 in DIV) 1626 points scored
Team C 5-8 (2-2 in DIV) 1622 points scored

Team B would have more points, but team C would have more division wins. Would Team C go ahead of Team B?

quote:

Division winners advance and are assigned top seeds: The winners of each division will advance to the playoffs as the top seeds and the overall top division winner will be the #1 seed. All other playoff teams will be determined by overall standings regardless of division results.

It doesn't specify how division standings are reflected in division scenarios.

Based on that last sentence it would seem team b would go.

Team B goes.

Yahoo's tiebreakers are incredibly inconsistent. The tiebreaker for first place in the division is determined by division record. Every other tiebreaker is determined by total points. It's incredibly dumb that they use different tiebreakers for different seeds. What's even dumber is that they do not give you the option to change it. This is one of my biggest qualms with yahoo leagues.

EDIT: I know this because last year I played in a 12 team league with 2 division, each division winner gets a bye. At the end of the regular season, my team had the same record as two others in the division and we lead the division. Myself and one of the teams had roughly 200 more points than the third (with me being the point leader by a couple), but that third team had a better division record thanks to an incredibly lucky schedule. That team got the bye and I had to play the other good team from my division (again, bad luck based on how the other division played out). I lost narrowly in the first round, but if I had the bye, I would've won the entire league.

Still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. So in the league I'm a commish for this year, I made sure to try and change the tiebreaker rules, but for whatever reason, Yahoo does not allow this. And depending on how these afternoon games play out, I might be in a very similar position

It should be based on head-to-head matchup if it's between two teams with identical records. Yahoo is fantastic is every other way except this. Hope they are more flexible with it next year.

I can honestly understand using any given rule to determine tiebreakers. Head to head, total points, division record, etc.. All fine by me.

What makes zero sense is using different tiebreakers for different seeds, and also not allowing the league commish to decide what the tiebreaker is. Neither of these two settings have any logic behind them.
