Barbosa, when he used to live in Louisiana. About as close to Texas Q as one could find. His brisket IMO rivaled Pecan Lodge and Smitty's (my two favorites).
T-Chews was good (Ascension Parish). Liked his smoked chicken and brisket, but they closed up shop. Said it was due to plumbing issues in the old Sonic. Perhaps, but I also suspect finances may have had something to do it with as well.
Now that he (Barbosa) is gone (moved to Colorado), Baton Rouge doesn't have anything that stands out. BRQ, laughable. TJ Ribs, I like their ribs, but it's not BBQ. Whole Foods? Hannah Q?
Big Jakes in St. Gabriel? Don't know, want to try it but can't figure out their hours of operation.

Blue Oak is easily the best BBQ place in Louisiana.

Have become a fan of Jim's Texas Smokehouse on Hwy 19 in Baker. His ribs and chicken are worthy.
Also like the direction that Garden District BBQ in Baton Rouge is going with their lunch time dishes.
Missing the brisket at the former Pink Pig in Lake Charles then Carlyss. Only brisket outside of Texas I would eat.
And, does anybody know anything about Memphis Mac on Choctaw across from the plant? Seems to take orders through the week for Saturday delivery.

I’ve been wondering about this place. I work very close to there. I remember when that spot was a seafood place years ago.

I'm not a fan of their brisket, and barbecued sausage really ain't barbecue. But their chicken has the smokiest taste I've had. And it served without sauce so there's that.
Really like their ribs. Even have a grilled PBJ for the kids.
The place is growing on me.

Yikes
that does look bad.
The only time I visit is after fishing all day and have always impressed with the brisket.

Blue Oak has really good wings and that chicken sandwich. Their BBQ is usually right on average. Some days it hits pretty good.
If you can, try to catch Gonzo's Smokehouse doing a popup, or if their storefront is open. His stuff is usually hot/fresh so it sells out quick, but the low quantity makes the quality pretty damn good.
La23
Blue Oak
Central City
Mclures
Salty Joe's

I’ve heard Blanchard’s in Lafayette is supposed to be pretty good. Haven’t tried it yet.
