No baw. We didn't have these fancy driving machines to be able to take us 3 hours away.

If you've eaten all over those areas and not had any gumbo that has stood out to you, well, I'll just assume it's you being you.

This is not in the FQ but Chef Ron's Gumbo Stop in Metairie has some very good gumbo IMO.

Yeah but you said the brusly thing as if that meant something.
Just say you've driven around swla. Most of us have seeing as we're on a Louisiana website.

I don’t do restaurant gumbos at all. I like Abbeville style gumbo that’s not some thick, dark mess. I have to have the right kind of potato salad with my gumbo and some fresh filé if possible. I just don’t eat it in restaurants ever, and I’m never let down...I think it’s a perfectly fine way to live.

Problem w/ that guy is he puts okra in everything.

I like okra in my gumbo. My complaint would be that the one time I went to that place I found the gumbo pretty average, although a healthy portion of it.

Well, ate too much gumbo haha
Petite Amelie: very thick, shredded chicken, more of a stew than gumbo. Ok flavor
Gumbo Shop: similar to Petite Amelie but with cubed chicken
Revolution: very creamy broth/roux, not as thick as prior two. Had seafood gumbo for a change up, could have done without the piece of fish but overall much better than PA or GS. Friends had the death by gumbo and they didnt care for it.
Black Duck/Palace Cafe: “country gumbo”, has chicken, sausage, shrimp, weird. Roux was very dark, whick I like, but overall way too salty
M’s Bistro: chicken/sausage gumbo, of all we tried this was my favorite, seasoned very well
We tried to get some from Mr Bs but was too crowded.
My grandparents were from the Bayou Lafourche area. Our family gumbo is more of a soup comparef to a new orleans style gumbo which I find is closer to a stew. Any restaurants that have a thinner gumbo that we should try? Of course all of these places don’t come close to mama’s haha

K-Paul’s has a great gumbo in the quarter.
Out of the quarter the rabbit and andouille at Brigstens is very good as well.
